Has anyone ever tried those engine oil/transmission oil/fuel additives? Do they work? Which is the best? It seems like everyone makes one now. I've seen the commericals and all that crap and it sounds like decent stuff but I'd rather know for sure that someone on this board has used it and noticed an improvement.
Thanks for the input.

The only one that I have had any success with is X-1. but the results were marginal and who knows it could have been a placebo effect. The cocept behind them seems acurate, but I have heard of tests ( Dateline?) on these products that showed they were no diffrent than motor oil.

Where is my super sauce?
I've heard the ones with PTFE (teflon) particles are actually bad. Think about it, you're putting little beads into your crankcase. The beads are slippery, but still solid. With engine tolerances being so specific, I find it hard to believe that putting slippery beads in the oil is helpful.
I think Duralube and Slick50 have the PTFE beads. I'm not sure about Prolong.
The commercials seem to imply that the products are good if you drive through the desert without oil. I normally keep the oil crankcase full , so I'm not sure what advantage these products give to normal use.
I'm sure one of the engineer types that post here will elaborate.
