Driving from NJ to Delray Beach FL..what to check?

hey guys I'll be going on a road trip next Friday, from NJ to FL .. my question is, what types of things should I check before I take the long trip? I have some things in mind but want to make sure I'm not forgetting anything.

Thanks for that inquiry blader; we're making a similar trip next Friday: central NJ to Fort Meyers.

Stop at the grocery store and buy a cheap bottle of glass cleaner and a roll of paper towels.

I can guarantee that you will get a giant bug on the windshield right in your line of sight. Happens every time I drive through South Carolina.

Why are you guys coming to Florida? Just out of curiosity.....

I guess just make sure all your fluids are full, and that your tires are alright. Oh, and make sure you have enough music to last you your entire trip, the radio sucks on road trips.

I drove from Southern California to Indiana. If you have a CL-S, you should be fine. Hell, we drove for 40 hours (rested the car every once and a while for an hour) and the car was perfect. I was pretty surprised considering we averaged 105mph through the deserted areas. Anywho, make sure you take some good cd's so you don't have to listen to the same songs over and over.

XM radio should be installed and activated before you begin the trip.

Thanks guys for all the help. I'll check all fluids .. my tires are a brand new set of pirelli pzero rossos so I should be OK with that. I have a little wobble at 70 so I'm gonna get the wheels rebalanced. I have plenty of Invisible Glass and towels for cleaning the windshield. I also bought a bra to cut down on rock dings on my front end. I'm also gonna zaino the hell out of it so the bugs come off a little easier. I have a valentine 1 to watch for radar and laser, and I got the CT quiet tips to cut down on the drone .. looks like I'm gonna have to go burn alot of CDs though.

Minch, I'm going down for spring break. A friend has a relative in Delray so we're staying with her.

anothercls, how much is an XM radio installed?

i made the trip a couple times between july and jan. from Nova to delray, its not that bad. as long as you changed your oil and have some good tires youll be fine. watch out through s. carolina, too many cops to count.

I'm driving from South FL to NY on the 8th. When you going back? Things I check are fluids, tire pressure, the tires for any nails or punctures, & the spare tire. That's really all you need to check on this car. If I was driving a questionable older car I'd check alot of other stuff, but as said that's not needed with the CL/TL. I use a bra also for road trips. It really does help.

However, most importrant, make sure your V1 is working

Check your fluids, air pressure in the tires, and hit the road.

You're taking a 2003 CLS and not a 1960's VW Microbus, so you should be able to just get in and go

EDIT: Make sure you bring maps.

It is always a good idea to check your spare before you go on a long trip...

I love mine!

When you get to central FL be on the lookout for a red Steeda 99+ Mustang GT. Yes it's a cop!!!!

My minivan has Navi. Not to mention: new set of Kumho Ecstas, recent synthetic oil change and 4 wheel brake job. I'm ready and psyched. I've never driven on a trip this long before; my last "record" was central NJ to Columbus, Ohio (approx 9-10 hours).

I drove down lastyear with 4 friends from south NJ to panama city beach FL, it was alot of fun .. took it in a much roomier vehicle though. 95 suburban w\ built 454, whipple supercharged, stand alone air\fuel management, not the best of gas mileage I think 10 or 11 highway.

Hopefully the CLS does better

Xm install was 100$, and 170$ for the commander.

When installing it, install the antenna inside the car above the map lights. I had mine installed there and have few problems, nothing I didn't notice when I had the TL loaner.
