driver belts / alternator belt
I was just wondering, do you ever supposed to replace your poweer steering or alternator belts? I have close to 50K miles, and was wondering if its a good idea to replace them? visual appearance looks ok, except that alternator belt has become a bit discoloured from what it used to look before...

I would imagine yes, but your best bet is taking it to your local acura dealer to see if you really need to replace them. I think they are supposed to last longer than 50k.

I changed the alternator belts on my sisters car when i changed her timing belt, just out of convenience, not sure if i NEEDED to change them or not, but they looked fine when i took them off.

Like hoses, it boils down to the quality of the materials to start with, then mileage and age cosiderations. On the ribbed side if you see small cracks it is starting to go. My opinion of Acura belts ( and hoses) is that they are of excellent quality. Just my 2CW.

If you are going to replace them, consider the UR crank pulley to gain more power at the same time. the underdrive uses different belts so you have to replace them anyway!! My CAI and Pulley yield about 20 extra hps at the wheels.
