Does anyone else have a squeeky Comptech spring??

My drivers side front spring is driving me crazy!! It squeeks when I got over bumps, up driveways etc.
I talked to Comptech about it but trying to get them to admit to anything is impossible.
Anyone?? It's been to the shop 2 times to get it fixed w/o success.

what did they do both times you were there?

what they should have done is raised your car, and move the isolators to the areas where the springs are contacting each other, that is, if this is where the noise is coming from.

look at your springs at where they contact, if they are touching each other, you will see rubbing.

Only the rears have the isolators. The problem is probably between the spring and the perch. It's a not a metal on metal rubbing. It's a rubber on metal squeeking.
Thanks for the reply.

If it were the coils clanging, the sound would be metal against metal...but the sound I'm getting sometimes (probably what Mike is referring to also) is a rubber squeaking noise when the coils compress. I only get it when it's cold outside. The silicon oil didn't work? Sorry Mike...I'm puzzled.

I haven't used the silicon because it's such a pain to get it to the perch cleanly.
That's only a short term fix anyway..

Where have you been??

I'm stabbing in the dark here, but I wonder if it is metal to rubber, if some lithium based gook or some graphite would stick in their longer. The coils are powder coated -- yes/no?

If you could ever get those springs off, I would suggest putting some tubing or heat shrink over the end coil (if possible) and or wrapping the Teflon tape over the offending end(s). You just are hearing some slippage, so if you can get the spring ends to slip on the rubber, you’re probably ok.

I still wonder about the progressive coils in back, but they have some "bulge" yes/no?

This is just a guess but it sort of sounds like the spring perch is not assembled correctly. What can happen is that when the springs where put in one of the rubber isolators that is in the upper spring perch shifted during reassembly. This would allow the upper coil of the spring to contact the metal of the perch possibly making this noise.Another possibility is that the bottom coil of the spring is not seated correctly on the bottom perch.Jens
