With new SAE standards it's not even that much higher than the J30 in the accord.. since the J32A3 lost 12hp, i'd assume the J32A2 should be around the same loss, around 248hp.. not sounding so fast anymore, eh?

The last 2 parking tickets I have recieved had "Mercedes" as the make

But the only badge remaining now is the 07 TypeS badge I have, I guess I can understand that if it wasn't a "car guy" fining me.

The CL is a beautiful car, its rare, its luxurious and its sexy. So whether ppl underestimate our cars or not, the bottom line is that we can proudly say we own/drive a CL. Furthermore, id prefer it that ppl dont know $hit about our cars, makes it the more special

round these parts people usually "know" what a CL is. They just dont know whats under the hood. I mean there is this one kid here that has an accord. Its nicely done and I have had a few classes with him at PSU. But the first time that we spoke he asked if I had the J32 in it. I looked at him in disbelief that he knew what series was in it. Then when I told him it was the 6 speed, i got the question " thats the type-s right?" Shocked again. First time that EVER happened. Ever since then its "is that the 2.2 or 2.3 in there?"

The one time I told a kid that it was a 2.2 with an additional 1.1 liters in 2 extra pistons...

The look on his face was priceless...

I love it when I meet someone new and they know me by the car that I drive... So something along the lines of "Are you the kid with that nice sounding Back Acura?"

Now its more along the lines of "Are you the kid with the Acura with the CF hood and trunk?"

I feel violated though that they know so much about the car and I dont know them at all..

True... But I have to:

Home to work
Home to school
Work to school
School to work
School to home
Work to work (a lot of errands I do in my car unless its hauling something. Errands pop doesnt want to do...)
Home to Home in Mountains...
Home to Philly
Home to everywhere

I bought the car in October 2006 with 68k miles on it..
Currently 99,300

So in 16 months I got 31k on it.
My pops TL has 135k on it and its a 00'

So my car averages 20k a year
His is just under 17k a year

Except that 12 months of ownership I was at 24 or 25k already...
Lol

Some people ask if my car is a sedan LOL and one time this kid was getting into my car and wasn't looking for the door handle and was trying to go in to a door behind the side door. Then I was like "Yeah, its a two door by the way" Then I show them that its not a sedan

Yeah everyone underestimates my car. I love driving my car and letting everyone know its fast and its stock. And I love that I have times to back it up 14.42 1/4.

now when people ask what car and I say 2003 Acura CL I need to make sure they understand that its the second generation. Every thinks I am talking about the 1st gen and to me I hate it.

And that we are talking about mileage I bought my car with 103k in may and I have 126k 9 months later. So about 31k a year.

This is sooo true... i get EL's gunning it off the line to which they go and then cut me off, tauniting me or something. Im too busy laughing to do anything about it. And i make sure they notice that im laughing at them. I swear, one of these days ill get shot. Dont get me wrong, nothing wrong with the EL's, but please, know your roll.

Most people know the CL. It is a rare care. I've never had anyone assume mine was the late 90's model with the smaller engine. I do like the fact I can drive days without seeing a CL. I get a lot of compliments on it.....

I've had this car for over 2 years now and it's been underestimated quite a few times.

I work in a fancy persian place so we have the sickest cars coming in all the time. I'll see 10 G35's in the garage but only ONE CL.

Some guy was telling me to get HID's once and I showed him that they came stock but then he sadly went on to show me his ghetto 12000k lights on his SUV.

And lastly, I love it when people go to sit in my back seats, when you pop the seats forward, the seat automatically moves up; Always gets the "Wooooooow"

Except the auto seats take almost forever and a day just to move forward while makig that annoying "ehhhhhh" sound. They need to put some VTEC in those seats, especially when Im in a hurry

One of the greatest parts of owning a CL for me is its rarity. I pretty much never see them on the road. No one knows what it is, let alone its capabilites. Ive driven my friend who owns an 03' 530i and was so suprised at its power.

After so much, I give up and simply say the "Its a TL with 2 doors" line.

No kidding, The north end I see very few.....Although I did race an exact same replica of my car a Type S and nighthawk color couple weeks ago.

Yeah I tend to be in the Lynnwood area and there is a lot of Lexus and Audi, and a lot of those guys look at my car and cant figure out what it is.

Its nice to have a luxury coupe that sticks out and is different from all the rest......

Dont make the same mistake and underestimate the Cobalt SS. Its pretty fast stock, if not faster than a stock CL. But at the end of the day, its still a Cobalt......lol

LOL awesome thread, had to bump this. 4 years later and this car is rarer than ever.

The sedan part kills me, I've had too many dumb chicks try and look for a door handle at the back at night time and I'd be like "Yo, it's a 2-door", Probably cause are cars are so bulky for a coupe. The power moving seats are a hit for girls too, they usually go for the bottom trying to adjust it, and I tell em just pull the lever up. Get's the "ouuuuuh's" consistently

I don't even bother with Civics, Teggy's and the like anymore. Only if they act up though I gotta lay the smackdown on em and let them know their role!

Only whips I actually try and stick it to are G35's and 350's. I respect Nismos, but I hate em at the same time.

Yeah I raced the turbo cobalt SS and w intake and catback and he pulled me by about a fender I was like WHAT...but he rolled down the window and said the same thing WTF do you have done to that thing??? We pulled over and talked he said he runs with c5 vettes ... i believe him too i had i/h/pullies at the time.

but yeah people do underestimate the CL tho, my buddy had a 07 M6 and he'd barely pull me by about a car from ~ 30-120 ...from a stop those things are beast but nothing special from a roll, theres a vid on youtube w a cls6 running an m6 somewhere

You just have to think/look thru the eyes of others. To anyone who doesn't own a cl they are garbage to them. Sadly I kind of do the same thing when it comes to the 6th gen accord or 2nd gen tl. I don't necessarily think of them as being as sporty as my car.

On a side note its funny how cobalt ss drivers think they are the shit.

people would always underestimate my TL before i got my exhaust and kit. after that, getting a good race was so hard!

i used to overestimate civic hatches while i drove the TL, now i know how slow they are
