I was wondering if anyone ventured to take the black plastic pieces out where their fogs lights, on their 03 CL-S, are suppose to be? If so, how did you go about doing it and do you got any pics or recommendations for the tools I am going to need?

I’ve done it.
All you need is a Phillips screwdriver with a LONG shaft and about 2-minutes time.
They come out exactly like the 2001/2002 marker lights do.
Only ONE screw per housing keeps them in.
I have photos, but they’re on my PC at home.

Wow .. can you say "COLD AIR INDUCTION"... sweet... i like it.... the reason why I asked about removing it was I was thinking about either waiting and getting the grillcraft covers or i was gonna try and do something with the plastic inserts like I did with the mesh grill...

Of course it needs to be carefully baffled so it doesn’t become a RAM WATER intake in heavy rain.
And all you people who say the BYPASS valve on the CAI isn’t needed, take a look at how LOW that filter sits.
Everyone always says you need water up to the headlights to draw in water....I think NOT.

Yeah that car isn't as low as it might look at first glance - the towel with turny-clicky thing on it is actually under the front bumper (unless his car was sitting on the brake rotors which I doubt).

Was looking at that picture of Shawn S' filter. Is it normal to have it pointing to the ground like that? Or is that just a X-CAI thing? Is the AEM like that too?
I know the filter on the Injen CAI sits horizontally at the end of the pipe. I was worried a little this morning because it's been raining hard and I was hydroplaning every 100 yards on the road (flash flood warnings in Pittsburgh today) and water was kicking up everywhere.
Is it "safer" to have the filter sit like Shawn's or like the Injen?

the injen is probably the safest since it is the highest mounted filter and it sits horizontally.
The AEM sits like the injen... but lower.
The X goes straight to the ground. hehe
