Depreciation (or just a good deal) ??

Here's a Boston Craigslist ad for a 2003 CLS auto w/ 13K miles for $21,900.

http://boston.craigslist.org/car/20148124.html

Looks like there are some decent deals out there, or maybe my car has dropped $7K in value in one year I've got one of the ultra rare 6spds , so I'm sure my 2003 CLS w/ 15K miles is worth alot more

That's about right for a 2002...not a 2003.

BUT...it is a private seller...so there's no right/wrong price if he needs to sell quickly. We also don't know how long he's had it for sale, if it's been in an accident, etc.

I'm sure somebody will get a good deal.

Dang...

If that car is in as good of condition as the seller says it is, some buyer is going to get away with an awesome deal.

jeez ! what a deal

depreciation curve is crazy in the first 2 years. It tends to go flat over the 4th year

Well that would be interesting...

I think this might be a rare occurance of a seller who actually has a clue about what their car is worth. Dealer would probably give him the same amount for the car (or less), and he probably just needs cash quick. He probably knows what it's worth, and is willing to let it go for $1-2K less then it's worth for a quick sale.

I wouldn't be suprised if a dealer buys this car, and flips it for a couple of grand.

With the CL being discontinued, and with the usual 1st year depreciation hit, the price probably ain't that far off the mark.

If the guy had it for 24-25K, we'd probably all be saying that he was smoking crack (me included)
