Death in Acura Family.......
The crew chief for Real Time Racing passed away as result of being hit while driving his motorcycle.....
Jerome Zimmermann: 1967 - 2003
Jerome Zimmermann, crew chief for RealTime Racing, died today in Milwaukee's Froedtert Hospital, as a result of injuries received last Friday, July 18, in a road accident.
Zimmermann, 36, of Milwaukee, was en route to work when a car emerged from a side street and into the path of his motorcycle.
He joined RealTime in 1993, and in 1997, was promoted to crew chief for the team's Acura Touring Car program. He was responsible for the engine building, and guided the team to multiple championships in the SCCA Speed World Challenge.
Zimmermann was born February 17, 1967 in Gladstone, Michigan, the youngest of nine children. He is survived by his parents, John and Marilyn Zimmermann; five brothers, three sisters, and his companion, Christine Milic.
At the family's request, Jerry's organs will be donated through a unit of Froedtert Hospital. His remains will be cremated.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 27, in Gladstone, Michigan, with a similar service the following Sunday in Milwaukee.
Saukville, Wisconsin, July 22, 2003
The TOV wishes to express its deepest sympathies to the Zimmerman family. We are in a state of shock and disbelief over this devastating news. Jerry will be truly missed. Below are several photos offering glimpses of him at work. We probably have more and will add them as we find them. jp
