dealer service versus ...

My new/used CL is already due for its 90k tune-up. Checked with area Acura dealers and was surprised at how much more expensive they are than other shops. Like twice as much. There is a local shop that specializes in Acura's and Hondas with much lower rates.

What are the benefits of going to an Acura dealer for service? Is it worth the difference in price?

I'm in the LA area, if anyone can recommend a dealer or a good repair shop.

thanks.

None really except that Acura backs parts for 1 year or 12000 miles and they might tend to goodwill your tranny past 100,000 miles if you do the work there. But for a 700-1000 job fo 1/2 price it might be worth the risk.

Dealers are ALWAYS more expensive. Doesn't matter what car brand.
These "services" are a waste. You can DIY for 90% of them. The other 10% any good shop can do cheap.

One benefit is when you are selling it, you can say it was "Acura serviced" and they will have all your visits on file.

Other than that, i say its not worth the $$.

Yes, the car has been all dealer serviced by previous owner & it was suggested to me I do the same. I have to say, it meant something to me as a buyer.

Phil, your avatar disturbs me. ;-)
