dealer question.

Tomorrow I'm taking my car in the shop tomorrow to get the transmission replaced. (what a shock huh?) The dealer told me it would be about 4 to 7 days.
When i asked about a loaner they told me none availible until feb 15th. SHould i press the issue to get one right away or is that a normal practice?

I got a pos from Enterprise when I took mine in for the tranny replacement. It does take about 4 to 7 days, but I think they have to give you some form of transport while they work on it.

I called a couple dealers and one said they couldn't give me a loaner but they could give me a deal thru Enterprise $30 a day. But i don't think i should have to pay because of Honda's crappy tranny.

A loaner is a courtesy extended by the dealer. They don't have to give you anything.

It's a courtesy for an oil-change or for maintainance, but for a defective tranny that is the fault of Acura, it is not a courtesy.

Marcy69: when I had mine done they told me the same thing, but what they meant was that they will be picking up the bill for up to $30 a day from Enterprise, I didn't have to pay a dime.

Read your warranty-they have no obligation other than to do the repairs. A loaner is not included.

They took 4 days to replace mine last week. They offered me a loaner but I did not need one. They actually did a really great job car is so much smoother now.

in fact they aren't even obligated to do the repairs until they're approved by Acura

I would say that's the average time for labor. It takes more time for the part to be delivered than to install. They must have a bunch laying around.

the dealer is obligated to provide you with transportation weather it is a loaner or Rent-A-Car POS... i know this for a fact because it became an issue for me and i talked directly to Acura who talked to my dealer and the dealer was forced to pay $30 a day for a rental and this way it only took them 3 days because they didnt like pullin money out of their ass... (Paragon Acura)
i dont go there anymore though because they are dirt bags and very dissrespectful

looks like you were right. Dealer called me and said they'd be replacing the Tranny and if i needed a ride. Enterprise met me there and Acura will be paying the bill while i drive the rental. (four door civic) But now that I'm driving the civic i realize how much i love my CL

Glad it worked out for you. They did the same for me when I had mine done. I had a Chevy POS. It sucked. I used it to drive home to get my Maxima and I parked the POS under a tree for a week.

I had one of those a week ago. Nice stereo and seat warmers, hated the car... That was the second time I had one. Gutless sombitch!

If my tranny ever goes out, Acura WILL be providing me with a loaner and it better be at least a TL, I don't care if it's a 1st Gen, it just better not be another little dinky bean can for a week. I've been shit on my their service dept. so many times they don't want to screw with me again. I'll go postal.
