Dealer Appointment Thursday
Just an FYI: I noticed in the last couple of weeks that my 2003 CLS six speed had a loss of power above 4500 rpm and I could not feel or hear VTEC kick in. I thought at first that it was just the 100 degree weather that we had, but the temperature has cooled and I still have the same symptoms.
After doing a search here and reviewing Chod's FAQ, I found that some members had the same problem with loss of power at higher rpms and I figured out it might be the bypass valve actuator. Lo and behold, I had a friend rev the engine to above 5000 rpms a few times and the bypass valve actuator assembly did not move at all.
I called Acura of Omaha and told them what my car was (or was not) doing and said I think it might be the bypass valve actuator. The car goes in Thursday and I printed out some of the posts from this site. I should not have a problem getting the car fixed, but I will report back after my appointment.
By the way, I have about 22,000 miles and it really does feel like a different engine at higher revs! Below 4000 rpm, however, I can't tell much of a difference.

Just a follow up to this post:
The dealer replaced the bypass valve actuator under warranty and the car is back to normal. It pulls hard after 4500 rpm's and my icebox is happy again!!
I know this topic has been discussed at length, but I thought I would report on my experience. It does make a huge difference.
