De-Bose
Any one ever hear of De-Bose-ing your Bose stereo? My friend has an AUdi S4 and he had it dont to his Bose system. Aperently bose sets up the stereo so that a certain about of base is put out at a given volume. When u de-bose it, the base levels will be the same at all volumes. that also goes with the trebile. He also showed me that if he holds down 5 on his stock bose head unit a little equilizer comes up.
Anyone know if this is possible with the Bose stereo in the CL-S?

Yes, please expand on this a little more.
When are you supposed to hold down 5? I just tried it. In FM, it'll set your channel 5 preset. In CD, it just goes to CD5.
Thanks! This will be quite interesting if it really works!

OK check out this link guys
http://bostonaudi.proboards.com/inde...num=1013528834
And here is the e-mail from my friend:
"The EQ on the S4 is gotten to by holding down the 5 button and turning the
stereo on .. I'm sure if other cars have this it could be any number of
button combos ... and for the debose process .. here is a link that can give
you a better idea ...

013528834. De-bosing is done by hooking up something called a VAG-COM ..
basically it is the same thing as the dealer would use to plug into your car
and check DTCs and such .. I don't know if there is anyone who makes one for
the Acura, but I've never looked."

For the Audi...
On the Audi, when you get to the EQ, you can adjust them by using the volume and go to the next number by using the PSCAN button. 82348234 is a good number to input. I believe the 8 represents low-lows, the next number is high lows, the next is mids, and the last is highs. The first four I believe are for the front speakers, and the last four are for the back. Also, adjust your fade two clicks to the rear. Your Bose system will come alive.

You need to find out who makes the H/U on the Audi. Our H/U is *not* a Bose, its a Pioneer, there is a little sticker on it when you pull it out, that shows you that. I can take a pic when I get home today.

well, i guess it wouln't really matter that much for as long as all of the speakers and amp are bose. do cl-p's have bose systems? if not, it would make sense for the two models to share the same hu, but the type-s be equipped with better speakers.

an adult perspective
The only parts of the "Bose" system in the Acura are the paper cone speakers and the Amp. For some unknown reason people seem to believe that the H/U is part of the Bose set up, but as others have stated it is of other origins. However, as there seems to be some sort of EQ assw the Bose systems in the TL, this might work for their cars?

I've found the people that least like the stock system in the CL are in one of the following categories:
*listen to hiphop or hard rock at high volumes
*come from a car they had custom audio work done on
I came from a GM car with its stock speakers and I have found the CL's stock sound system to be very very good except for the lack of bass (turning up the bass just makes it sound like you're hurting the speakers).
I listen to all kinds of music but mostly trance/house and find the stock system is awesome with that kind of music... most likely because it is designed more for classical for old people and the clarity and depth of the system is very good.
I find it MUCH better than the TL's 5-speaker setup.
If I had money to throw around, I would add a sub and amp (and probably in doing so, replace the headunit to ensure quality bass signal sourcing.)
But in general for trance/house, the stock system is very good, excepting when you want a lot of bass.
So of course hardrock is going to suck because you wont FEEL the kick of the drums or the vibration of the bass guitar, and hiphop is going to suck because the subwoofer thumping hits of bass are just going to sound like crap on the stock 6x9s in the rear deck.
So in a sense it's combining the system with types of music it perhaps was never intended to play at high volumes.
And I know what a good system sounds like and after being in a car with one, the CL sounds crappy, sure.
Hell even my 500watt Logitech Z-680 5.1 sound system on my PC puts it to shame.

I don't have too many complaints about the stock system. Sure it could use a little more bump (no, i don't listen to much hip-hop or rap - oldschool J5 and the Beastie Boys are all i'll play from that genre), but it's way better than any other stock system i've heard, and that's fine by me.
Also, i don't like really loud music. I have sensitive hearing. :ghey:

I find it MUCH better than the TL's 5-speaker setup
I used to always use aftermarket equipment of speakers, head unit, amps and subs in everything but I found the Bose to be almost ideal for the car...

Until the 7998 went in with my Diamond HEX 600s. I can bump when I want (Radiohead, Coldplay sound awesome with bass fill) and the crystal clear highs rock...try Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds Live at Luther College...just 2 acoustic guitars, and you can tell the difference, its just sooo crisp with aftermarket stuff. My Klipsh ProMedia 5.1's used to sound better than my car, now my car sounds better than those...

The TL's 5-speaker system lacks the spaciality and the highs the CL's system has with its 6 speakers spaced more appropriately and the tweeters as seperate speakers high on the dash level instead of part of the 6.5" high/mid speaker down in each door of the TL.
Yes, the TL does bass better - of course it does with the 8.5" (9"?)driver on the rear deck. But it just has four door speakers to make up for the 6 speaker positional sound you get in the CL.
Remember bass is fairly non-directional so in the TL you're essentially just getting four speakers.
No matter, neither system is as good as it should be and that's really all that matters, right?
Now if I had a couple grand to drop I'd fix all that.

exactly. i HATED the system in my TL... its fucking terrible.
It has some bass because it has woofers in the rear doors and that big woofer in back... BUT... it sounds like garbage... muddy... and straight shitty.
The CL system sounds great with the addition of a small sub.

Sonically, the stock Bose system used in the CL-S sounds better than the stock Bose system that Nissan offered in their 5th gen Maxima's ... however those systems came in at 200w vice the 25w/channel of the CL's. Now if Acura would have paid Bose to up the anti vis-a-vis the amp/speakers used in the CL to match that of the Max's and kept the acoustics, then we may have had something to be happy with.
