damage from high rev?

Mother drove the car without her glasses, accidentally put it into SS mode, and drove through the highway on 2nd gear. She was revving probably around 5k rpm's steadily.......FUCK. I didn't find out until later. My car feels fine now, but after I found out, the car seemed a little sluggish. I think it might just be mental. Any thoughts on what might happen to the car after all that high revving highway use?

Well, how long does she drove in SS(2nd gear)?
I would say check or change the Engine oil, then check the Tranny oil see r they in dark color. If so, get them change too.

I guess that's the downside of having a silky smooth reving motor. With the great balancing job that Honda does on it's motors, it doesnt feel like it's struggling and 5K is in the strong section of the power curve.

Driving the car 30 miles in second gear at 5K RPM will not do any harm. At that speed, there wouldn't be very much load on the motor.

hmm when I race I keep it in 5000k plus all the time, remember honda/acura engines are bullet proof, the trannies are not

You just described the EXACT reason why in SS mode that the Tranny is designed to shift automatically into 2nd gear at redline.
Can you imagine if she would’ve driven the entire 30-Miles in FIRST !!!

Man.. I bet she probably thinks that you have a V8 or something.. While on the Highway, she was pretty much in Vtec range the whole time.. 30 miles is a lot though.. I would defaintly get an unschedule oil change just for a peace of mind.
