I don't know about wood but someone here at one point has a brush aluminum or some other metal dash and all and he said that the peices had to be shaped to fit like curved and such

I've installed the black carbon fiber kit from Joshua Tree - it came flat. I layed all of the pieces out on the warm dashboard and they became VERY pliable. They were cut out perfectly and fit great. It was a little nerve-racking - the glue on the back (3M) is REALLY STICKY and they don't move at all even if even a little piece sticks down that's where it will stay. I doubt they will ever come off. I did a real wood kit on my MX-6 and it was the same way.

I have Acura trim installed by dealer and I think Rick M is totally correct.
