I'm thinking about adding this to where the mid muffler was.

why not? it's just 5" longer than your current one, and the vibrant resonator you were looking at is wider (6.75") than this.
btw - adding any kind of performance resonator/muffler into the system will not do anything to hurt performance, magnaflows are wide open/straight through designs.
