Custom Axleback exhaust

Hi all,
My plan is to have a shop make a custom axleback with magnaflow mufflers. My problem: It seems like there is no shop here in CT that can MANDREL bent exhaust pipe. So, the question is:

Is it still ok to make a custom axleback for CLS with just crush bent piping?...will this restrict exhaust gas flow in any way? (since it's only an axleback). I don't really want to do this and lose power on my car because the pipe is not bent properly (MANDREL).

Anybody can shed light on this?...

Thanks

Not only will it restrict flow of your exhaust but it can potentially sound like total shit because if you increase the turbulance in the piping you will tend to get resonance. Do it right or don't do it at all.

I thought Magnaflow made some Direct bolt ons that fit the CL

Back when I was shopping for a 6MT, I almost bought a member's here who had them... If I could only remember his username....

Thanks Nitequill....i guess i just have to get comptech....although...i think magnaflow sounds better if you do it right (some even say that there is no droning on highway...versus the droning comptech)

I have a 6-speed and with the gearing and the control the driver has, I have very minor droning with my magnaflows.

With a m/t you can really control the droning. I really think that magnaflows are great, the value and the sound makes it really worth it. I am sure comptech's are nice also, I just wanted to save some cash and put it towards other mods (headers).

Really?

I say look harder. I found a shop in a small town west of Toronto that did it for me, so surely there is someone in CT that can do it.

that's what i thought...
but i've calling left and right .....magnaflow's dealer, borla's dealer, local shops, asked Excelerate, Rondy....and still can't find one....so frustrating. It seems like comptech is the only way...but i don't really like the way it looks, and it's freakin expensive.....

Well....i'm not in such a hurry...so i guess i'll just keep looking. If anybody knows anything new, please let me know

Ok Guys,
I'm gonna call around tommorow, but quick question for all of you...
i'm thinking to have a shop order a pre-mandrel bent pipe (with the correct angle of course) and cut & weld it on the new magnaflow. That should work right?...
Sorry if it sounded stupid

Hey Guys..
Finally found a good exhaust place...this guy has done custom exhaust for ovef 14 years....
So..here's the game plan....
He'll order pre-mandrel-bent 2" piping (apparently the piping to our muffler is 2" instead of 2.25....the Y pipe is 2.25", then reduce to 2" to muffler). He'll weld the flange, and to the magnaflow muffler (with 2.25" inlet).

As for the muffler, i'm going a little bit of a different route than most of the members here (with Magnaflow muffler). I'll be getting magnaflow #14315 . This is polished without tip. The reason is that the canister is 4 x 9 instead of 5 x 8 (you can't get 4 x 9 with tip). I've seen a couple picture with magnaflow 14832 and the canister hangs pretty low (too thick). so..i think 4 x 9 canister will look better ...and i'll get Part#35127 tip (4" round, 4.5" length, angled cut)

I'll post pic once it's on....let me know what you guys think of this setup

well...unfortunately...i endded up going with the 14832 mufflers ....after seeing pic on differnt post, i'm starting to like it...besides, i can get these a lot cheaper than the other alternatives (154 for both of them from hottexhaust). So, hopefully it'll be here next week, and installed soon after....i'll def post pic after it's done
