Crappy break response....what's the deal?!

I've had my '03 CL-S for about 7 months (it has about 13k miles on it) and I just can't stand how crappy the breaks are. The car stops smooth but just doesn't stop fast enough or takes too much effort to stop the car. Is there something wrong with my car or is it a design flaw?? My fiancé's '04 Civic stops much better and she has smaller discs up front and drums in the back?!?! Any help on this?

acura cl/tl 01 - 03 all have that same problems, the brakes were not well desingned for max caliper friction. you will find out many plp here have done the brake upgrade. the other problems is the rotor aligment, it vibrates on our cars causing wraped rotors and uneven wear. finally the brake line on our cars also does not help as they expand reducing the hyraulic force that get to the calipers due to the loss of pressure.

get a BBK or SS lines.

hope this helps..................

SS lines don't help at all. You get a better pedel feel & that's it.

For the brakes. It's just how all Acura CL & TL's are. Even the new TL with the brembo's doesn't stop well. Either live with it, or "upgrade"

Gotcha...thanks for the replies on this. I don't see myself upgrading anytime soon so I will just have to live with it... =(

Check the brake fluid level. If the braking performance has diminished, then it could be low causing low pressure in the system, therefore decreased braking ability.
