CompTech SC - how much did you pay for install?

For those of you who have had the CompTech SC installed in your CLs (5AT or 6sp), how much did you pay for labor? How much for SC and battery not including labor? I need some comparative pricing because I just received a quote from a dealership which seems a bit high.

thanks...

I got my prices by researching the internet and then went to Tischer and they told me they would honor those prices . So I got the SC from Tischer and they will honor your warranty as long as they do the work.

people here said as long as the dealer do the installation and they will honor your warranty. Now I'm wondering how can they tell that is dealer installed. What if I have my headers install in dealer A and I go to dealer B for service. Is that mean they won't cover the warranty work. Help me out here guys

And the dealership puts notes UNDER YOUR VIN number, so if you took the car to another dealer, they can make a phone call or type your VIN if the system is centralized and find out if your lying or not..

P.S. I did my homework before my install, the dealer verbally told (they would not put it in writing) that if the car had signs of being beat to death then they would not honor any install.. but if a problem arised they would cover it.... besides it helps to know the owner of the dealerships and the sales managers too.... I always bring them a box of Krispy Creme doughnuts!!!.. they luv that..

P.S.S. and to answer the original thread question:... Zip, 0, Zero, nada... did all the work myself... just had to pay for the R51 battery, some misc. hoses and clamps since the ones supplied were too short..

So you installed it yourself... thanks... but I don't have the time nor confidence to install it myself, so I'm asking people who paid someone to install it...

I understand that but you might also want to consider how much time is invested the gage the value. It takes about 8 - 10 hours to install it from start to finish. That may help to assign a price based on known hourly rates.

Or drive to Atlanta and I'll install it for you for a case of Michelob Light.

OK, just maybe I'll consider doing the install myself. In my younger years, I did all my own work on my vehicles... everything from oil changes to engine rebuilds. I've lost alot of that motivation in recent years. The only thing I did on my '03 CLS 6sp was install mud skirts and the '02 roadlamps. So maybe I'll consider something more ambitious.

But first I have a few questions about the SC install (you ask for it ):

1) Is the replacement fuel pump mounted inside the fuel tank or outside of it?

2) Does the fuel tank need to be drained to replace the OEM fuel pump?

3) I've already installed the CT intake and sold the OEM intake. Is there anything I might have needed from the OEM intake for the SC's intake install?

4) Once the smaller battery is installed in a repositioned location, how in the world do you get to it for maintenance or for a jumper boost? I've looked at a SC'd CL and don't see any way to easily access the battery.

5) Is the rest of the SC install PnP (ESM, blower, pulleys, belts, throttle, fuel pressure reg., etc...)?

6) How good is the CT SC install manual? Are there any gotchas? Missing info? Missing parts? Missing steps?

thanks...

BTW... I was quoted $5186 installed (including battery) by a dealer which claims that the warranty won't be affected unless I blow an engine with the SC installed.

1 & 2) The fuel pump is in the tank but it does not need to be drained and dropped. There is an access cover in the trunk. Just pull back the carpet at the rear seats.

3) No, everything will be supplied with the SC kit.

4) It is tight down there but there is room to attach jumper cables. Just be sure to use good cables with insulated grips.

5) The only part that isn't PnP is the ESM. You do need to splice into four wires near the ECU (two taps and two cuts).

6) The installation instructions are not bad at all. They can get you through it. I also did a write up on the installation on this forum for reference. I took pictures and posted them in the write up.

Is there any way to install the fuel pump by taking out the rear seats instead of going through the trunk?

CT SC costs and install costs

Hello, I'm a newbie to this forum. I have an 03CLS 6sp with Comptech goodies including a recently installed SC. I paid $3,844 for the kit (Contemporary Motorsports), and paid $640 to have it and my CT headers and down pipe installed (Zen Motorsports - Opelika, AL). I paid about $80 for the battery. The only other expense was a handling charge of $245 from Cont. Motorsp. (no shipping, no tax). I hope this helps.

It takes a whole 10s to get to the stock fuel-pump... why would you ever take the seats off?

Because of this...

I would have to remove all of that if I have to go through the trunk.

Yes, you could get to it through the pass-through. It wouldn't be easy but would be possible.

Those, what appear to be capacitors, are sitting on top of the fuel pump access panel.
