Coilovers again -- oh no....

I've seen the coil overs that use "helper" springs in addition to the "main" spring. Has anyone any experience with these products on any of their cars.

Are they (or will they) be available for the CL-S?

I have APEX coilovers manufactured in Europe. These are fully adjustable units for compression and rebound damping and ride height.Although I have them in my Civic which is obviously a totally different car then an Acura but nonetheless.First off remember coilovers are really competition parts. What that means is that the basic spring rate is STIFF.Since they are competition parts they are also somewhat noisy in use.Although they can provide excellent handling they do demand careful adjustment and this can be time consuming. They are also fairly expensive depending on manufacturer. They seem to range from 1000 to well over 3000 dollars for high line units.Like I said these are really competition parts so unless you are planning to go racing or are just infatuated with complex gadgets (like me) it might be better to stay with good struts and springs.Jens

Jens, I don't know if it was the APEX units, but one of the units was using flat wound helper springs to work as the "progressive" part of the unit. Being flat wound, they didn't look like they would squeal when round progressive coils touch and move. I got the impression that I (or whoever) could order from a bevy of different lengths and spring rates.

True/False

Open a suspension shop (Almost did that with the BMW...)
