The CLS rear bumper holds up well

So I got into a minor fender bender this morning. 5 feet from my driveway!

There was all this condensation on my rear window like every morning. Couldn't see anything. I always put the defroster on & it clears up after a few minutes of driving. I back out of my driveway. Slowly as always. No cars coming from either direction. I start to turn & boom! Turns out some ass is parallel parked on the side of the street opposite my driveway. I didn't see him, & the HOA says not to park this way. I drive back up my driveway all pissed. I get out & it's a white F150 pickup. So I look at my rear end I have a small mark but no dents or anything. I go over & look at the F150 & didn't see anything there. So I knock on some doors it's 7:15am mind you. Turns out it's some guys work truck that's doing work on the guys house next door to me. Why he parked the way he did is beyond me.
So I tell him I backed into you accidentally. I told him I didn't see him because of condensation & he wasn't supposed to be parked like that in the 1st place. He was cool at least & there was no damage to either car so we let it go.

But I was surprised the bumper held up as well. After all those dateline reports about these kinds of things costing tons of $.
I was going about 5mph. Sounded a lot worse then it was.

Wow ya got lucky. I think I'd start wiping the condensation off before driving from now on though.

yea dude..... i got backed into at my work parking lot.. look at the damage it did to me.

cant find the before bondo pics, but it was bad.. the crack was as longa s the bondo marks all the way under the bumper.. and beloew was a small circle that looks as if the exhaust tip singed a hole into the bumper... this was all done in a parking lot.. i wonder how fast the person backed up.

it all really depends on where you hit them at with your bumper. if its a flat spot then it will just flex some. if you hit something pointed, or bare metal like a truck bumper then you are in for a awesome crack.

glad you came out ok. my prob with the bumpers is the paint tiniest bump and you get spider webs.

My car was hit while parked and the guy was doing 5-10 miles an hour and the damage is $675.00. They are replacing the bumper with a new one. I guess it probably could've been less if it was repaired but they also said if it was repaired and there was another accident in the same spot the outcome wouldn't be good because that area is weak from this accident.

those webs are ridiculous!!! when we had all of that snow/ice garbage last month, i hit a chunk of ice and put a dent in the bottom corner of my front bumper (size of a football)...had it heated and popped out w/in an hour damn stress cracks are a pain tho
