CL's and Laptops

I know I'm not the only one out here who carries s a laptop (or briefcase) to and from work daily. Where do you put it, back seat or trunk?

Here's my dilemma. If I put the bag behind the front seat, that works out to 520 back and forth motions on the electronic seat motor/gears. Assuming 4 years, that's over 2000! If I use the remote truck release, the numbers are the same.

What do you find easier to do, back seat or trunk. Also, any signs of excessive use?

Do you guys go through the trouble of opening the passenger door or just list it over the center console and put it on the passenger floor?

Actually, I put mine behind the passenger seat, and move the pass. seat as far back as it will go with the laptop there. That way it doesn't move at all. Fits perfectly.

The seat will withstand 50,000 cycles.

The truck will withstand 100,000 cycles.

Or something like that, I don't know. But I do know it's much more than you can possibly use up.

I'm sure they use some type of Accelerated Life Testing process to account for normal wear and tear.

My computer bag goes on the back seat driver's side floor.

kensteel,

Thanks for the numbers. I didn't think the cycle numbers would be that high and I'm sure I'll never even come close to them.

Exactly! Whether I'm going to O'Hare or the office, trunk 100% of the time.

I use my passenger side to put the kids in the car, laptop in the car, etc. I hardly ever move my seat out of paranoia of the motor wearing out.

Wedged behind the drivers seat and rear passenger seat.. I don't want it sliding around in case I have to make any sudden maneuvers.

My briefcase goes on the floor behind my drivers seat every day and my lunch cooler w/soda’s goes on the back seat.
YES I know the motor is getting a workout every day, but I’m getting the 100K extended warranty to cover it if it fails.

that dilemma is the last thing u should worry about...heres y:
i put mine behind the passengers seat, so no one will see it...if u put it in the trunk, thatll be the first thing they grab....atleast if they break ur windows, access to the back seat will be much more difficult because moving the seat will take more time....their first instinct will be to grab whats closest, and thatll be anything in the front....i once had a backpack in my car sittin on the floor, and i went into the grocery store for like 2 mins to get change, when i came out, the divers side window was smashed, and my bag, which was on the otherside of the floor, was GONE!....so, i dont think u should put anything in the front, that is visible for thieves,....dont think that u are going to be gone for a sec...casue i was robbed in one.....Plus, if u use the trunk, and they somehow pop the release from inside, they will take whatever they can get...which will be ur briefcase or laptop....Once, i put another backpack, in my car, in the trunk and nothing was broken, when i came out, my bag was missing from the trunk...they popped the latch and grabbed it and closed it...if u lock the trunk button, some can even jimmy it open from outside...So ur back seat, hidden or coverd, is ur best bet!!! TRUST ME, ive seen em both happen, but i have yet to experience a back seat robbery!

Iplace mine behind the drivers seat. Nice and snug. Placing it on the floor of the passanger lets it slide around. And I ca't risk damaging a HD and losing all those Gigs of .jpegs and .mpegs. If that happened what else would I do when I'm in the office alone .
