Climate controls

does anybody know if the non-navi climate control and the navi climate controls use the same plugs? i remember reading something about some A/C controls being on the navi screen so it wont work?? if they are, what controls are on the navi screen?

I dunno about the whole plugs thing...BUT...

The NAVI has 3 A/C components on it...

It adjusts area of air (head, feet, etc.)
It also adjusts whether the A/C is on or off
It adjusts fan speed

What is not controlled via NAVI is the temperature changing, and if you want the whole system (fan) down (OFF button), and I think rear and front defrosters. The AUTO button is also not in the NAVI screen.

There may be one or 2 more buttons, but I dont' know them off the top of my head.

Hope that helps!

i personally dont like the navi a/c integration

i find using the ac in my cl very frustrating at times

I WANT TO TURN ON THE AC AND KEEP THE RE-CIRUCULATION ON AT THE SAME TIME!!!!!!!!

also i think its a pretty stupid and confusing set up

turning on the air should not be a 3 step process

they should have just made screen go staight to the ac function instead of the navi and allow all the ac functions digital instead of half buttons and half digital

also i think its ridiculous how we have to wait forever to turn off the navi

this is how it should go

turn on the car

the ac function appears with a clock setting on the bottom or top

full control of the ac should be on the screen

this way you dont have to look at the boot screen and if you want to use the navi just hit the menu

they should have an off button to turn off the screen too

i 2nd...

Having the a/c control in the navi is a HUGE ergonomical mistake and the engineer(s) who thoughts of it shouldve known better !

No matter how much high tech gizmo dizmo is available in cars, some things should be left just the way they are

I have been using the NAV map screen in my 2000TL for over 2yrs.
If you have the map screen up all the time as I do it becomes second nature to use the system. Our NAV & controls are alot better than other cars costing way more.

Why can't you turn on the A/C and recirc at the same time, does one lock out the other? Personally, I just leave the system at Auto 24/7. It does a pretty good job of keeping me comfortable, and turns on recirc automatically if I get in the car when it was sitting in the sun for awhile. Do folks find the auto setting lacking?

I was in a friend's car a few weeks ago, and couldn't believe the steps she was taking to get the car's temp just right. (New lexus with same type of automatic control that we have). First, we get in the car. Turn on A/C. Turn temperature down to 62 so it cools faster. Turn fan speed down a bit so it didn't blow too hard. Wait 3 minutes. Turn temperature up to 65, turn fan speed up a bit to cool better. Eventually car gets to temp, then turned a/c off and fan off (which always gets a car too stuffy for me).

I don't get what folks have against the "auto" settings, unless they are trying to agressively conserve gasoline.
