Clearing of Headlights Done. THANX SooPA! But What A Mission...

Ok i finally did it and it looks sweet but what a mission. this does not take no 1 hour. and if u can do it in an hour i would love to see it! took me 4 hours. what a mission taking apart those headlights! and the cleaning the old silicone was even worst..but it was damn well worth it i love the look no more ugly amber bulbs i changed them to! only one problem any way to convert the blinker bulb to a single filament bulb so it will be bright at all times and the when u hit the right or left blinker it blinks on and off. my parking lights match perfectly but my blinkers dont since they only turn on full blast when they blink??

NSX?

The NSX is sold... my friend Have lots of pictures and
some spare parts... if that might help!

If someone has a driveway.. its better. I have a 2-car garage... but no drive-way... if 4-5 people get-together... maybe someone else's place might work.

We'll just BYOT and BYOB

Tools

You need the following for the 'headlight extraction' in the CL-S:

(1) Flat-head screw-driver (for the clips)
(2) Phillips-head screw-driver (remove those NASTY screw holding the top-part of the bumper down) and the two screws holding the bumper at the wheel-well
(3) 3/8" Ratchet and a 10mm socket with a 1' extension
(4) Temp/water-resistant silicone (the clear stuff from PepBoys)... if we get two tubes.. it should work for like 5-6 pairs of headlights
* Or as soopa mentioned.. re-use the silicone!
(5) Heat-gun... if somebody has this... we can all share! :flamer:

If I left anything out... somebody please chime in.

no you SHOULD NOT USE A HEATGUN.

fuck people read my instructions. its the only PROFESSIONAL and clean way to do it.

yes... you reuse factory silicone but you need to add some too...

DO NOT USE CLEAR. It sucks... and it doesnt look clear anyway. Dries foamy if put on thick like in this application.

Color match your factory silicone (usually gray... sometimes black)

Use GE's high end shit... i forget the name. Silicone II i think. But it works well.

Just pop the bitch in the oven... pull it apart... take the amber out... put a lil extra silicone in the track... slap er back together while shes still hot.

If you take too long and the casin cools off... reat each piece seperately in the oven before putting new silicone in or resealing.

Gotta keep that factory silicone hot.

If necessary, we could probably go to where I used to work in Agoura Hills. It's not a car garage, but they have a large parking lot and lots of tools including heat guns (Snoopa ) but no oven. It's in a small business park and is completely empty on the weekends... could easily line up 10+ cars for clearing.

Okay then...

How about 10:00am this Saturday? That's the 4th of Jan. at
Nihilstan's former work-place? The only problem is the lack of
the oven... so who has a big house with a big driveway?

I suggest 'HondaBond' for the silicon use..

Don't laugh cause this is going to sound bad... but what about using a toaster oven? My wife has a nice one I'm sure she'd love some car parts baked with.

http://www.krups.com/us/products/ind...D297&navbas=on

I can also bring a rice cooker

If Sat's a go, I'll call to make sure they don't have a problem w/ us using the place.

PS. Can someone post some pics of what they look like before and after?
