I hear that some simple green cleaner, & water work wonders. I never had to do it. But I would also like options, cause I will have to in the coming weeks to my Explorer.

Every oil change I use greased lightning on my engine and under carriage. It's a purple fluid in a black bottle at Pep Boys, Discount Auto, Auto Zone, etc. It's bio firendly and works well. It's about half the price of Simple green. However, if you want your engine to smell like a forrest you can't beat simple green.

wipe

I just use a plastic/rubber spray...I cant remember the name off hand...being at work is ruining my brain..hahha.....but I believe it was called Wet black One. Looks awesome after a rub down. I did a steam clean a long time ago with my camaro to track down an oil leak and the engine looked like new afterwards. So I would say just do a steam clean after you have a ton of miles.
