CL S v.s. BMW 328i
If you've driven I-95 North or South from Miami to Jacksonville or vis versa you know that there's plenty of time and interstate to have any kind of encounter possible if the traffic conditions are right. So, here's my fourth encounter with the 06' BMW 328i:
I'm in the Port St. Lucie area going North on I-95. My girlfriend and I are about to lose our minds because at this point we've exhausted our supply of CD's (unfortunately for her she doesn't like over half of my collection anyway) to listen to and there's no palettable radio station in the area, so my girlfriend falls asleep - AGAIN.
I'm doing an easy 80mph when a charcoal grey 328i with steel blue headlights comes charging up on my left. The BMW maintains about a 4 car length distance for about 10 miles before the driver decides to make his move. We're in a perfect part of a long, empty stretch of 3 lane highway so I give the BMW a shot.
I increase my speed to 100mph but the BMW is still slowly and aggressively pulling. At the last second the 328i makes a run for it and I react by switching to SS mode and downshifting to 4th. I'm begining to think this 328i has a little more than what I thought under the hood - I'm doing 120mph and the BMW is still trying to gain even though I still have 2 car lengths on this car. We're approaching a nice, long, high banking turn almost like an amateur NASCAR turn where the 328i starts showing signs of backing off. The BMW finally starts to tap out as I'm approaching 140mph and still climbing. After about 5 car lengths I shut down and lowered my speed to 90mph. The 328i eventually completely gave up and pulled over in my lane behind me maintaining about 3 car lengths behind me.
I decide at the last moment to slow down even more to see who this person is that was trying to take me. I'm gazing hard through the smokey tint of the driver's side window and it turns out to be some 20 something-looking sorority-looking chick with curly brown hair. after about 50 miles she eventually takes an exit and pulls into a gas station.
I just decided this morning to research what this 328i could really do when I stumbled across this thread from another website discussing the same outcome between the CL S and the BMW 328i:
What would win a race between the CL3.2 type S and the BMW 328i?
