CL-S 6M stumbling between 2 and 3k RPM?

Have had my '03 CL-S 6M for about 6 months, and have noticed the engine stumbles significantly between 2000 -3000 RPM in 2nd and 3rd... Dealer says it's normall..

Comments"?

Cheers

spark plugs is all I can think of, but that's so odd for it to be at only those rpm levels in that gear.

I've had my '03 CLS 6MT for 17 months/30k miles and never had this problem. However, if you don't let the clutch out smoothly, it can grab and make the car feel like it stumbles until you give it some more gas.

Thanks for the replies!

Since the car has less than 10000 miles, plugs should not be an issue...

I should have indicated iin the first post that the stumbling occurs after the clutch is engaged and the car is accelerating thru 2000 - 3000 RPM...

FWIW, the stumbling does not affect acceleration, but it is noticeable and consistent...

Does anyone else have the same "issue"?

Thanks, Guys (and Ladies!)

I have the 5AT and notice the same "shudder" or jerky power transfer, but the only time I have observed it is when the engine is cold and I am first starting out - also only on moderate accelaration, and not on hard accelation. I have had it at the dealer a few times to have this checked, and they have told me it is normal and related to ECU stuff. Since I have done mods (headers and intake), the shudder is more noticable, which is probably consistent with it being an ECU issue.

I have experienced similar things, and at when I shift to the next gear it seems like I didn't have the gear engaged all the way, like it was barely in gear. I would try to see if your making sure it goes in all the way. Also, is this a constant or intermittant problem?

Mine has never done that... always super smooth. However in the mornings at the end of its warmup cycle when switching from open loop into closed loop mode it will stumble slighty while cruising between 2,ooo-3,ooo rpm. But that happens only once. Is it doing it consistently?

My CL-s 6MT does the same thing every morning when I'm driving through my neiborhood (20-25 mph). It doesn't do it after the car is warmed up.

Something else to consider. The dual-mass flywheel/clutch can make the car feel like it's stumbling at low RPMs just off throttle; kind of a lunging and/or stumbling sensation.

yah .. my 03-CLS6 (16,000 miles) does it too .. lower gears .. take your foot off the gas .. and it will jerk 3 times on its own (without touching the clutch) .. then reapply pressure on the gas . .and it will jerk 3 more times ... dealer says this is 'normal' .. and my 'stalls' for about 2 secondds every time it comes to operating temp .. dealer won't even look at this .. even though it does it every time it is cold .. welcome to Acura crappy service

If its that 'initial' bog - floor the gas in 2nd or 3rd when the RPM is at 2K... it will 'bog' or 'hesitate' for a second or two.... that can be fixed by adjusting the TPS.

Mine does this too. The stumble when it reaches operating temperature is just plain weird and is kind of hard to explain to my passengers when it happens. The dealer says they can't reproduce it, so they're not going to do anything.

Yes my car does this alot when i'm stuck in traffic.

Do you have your AC on when this happens? I notice the same stumble, but only when the AC is on. Dealer claims it's normal too.

I've got a slight vibration from the engine on my 6spd when cruising on the highway at about 2900-3000 rpm. I've always attributed this to not varying the rpms enough on the initial engine break in, but maybe it's normal

I get a slight resonating vibration between 2700-3000 RPM in any gear. I noticed it after I had the S/C installed. But since the S/C quiets some of the engine noise down, maybe the vibration has always been there.

Thanks for the input...

Haven't checked to see if it only ocurs with the AC on... Will have to check that out...

It does, however occur consistently, most noticeable in 2nd and 3rd gears...

Cheers!
