CL-S 101: Apexi V-AFC

okay guys, I'm in the learning mood today. I got no school today due to the break from finals, so I need to learn something productive, mine as well be about my ride! What is this Apexi V-AFC? What performance gains do we get out of it? I have not only seen VTEC controllers by APEXI but by other companies as well (Pilot...) Whats the 411 on these bad boys?! Thanks in advance as usual.

The V-AFC, is a Vtec and Air/Fuel controller..

Well dyno-tuned will smooth the power curve of the engine.. A lot tried to Dyno-tuned the CLS wiht this controller with NOT much gains...

It's not that a power maker period.

What do you mean by "dyno"? Do you mean having your car taken to A DYNO? How does that effect the V-AFC? Maybe im getting confused, please clarify.

Wow I think you should definitely use today for learning! Dyno = dynomometer. You should start reading old threads cause not many people are gonna take time to explain this. Just friendly advise...

Yeah I agree..

Basically though, You are suppose to take your car in to a dyno to have it specifically tuned for your car. Even though another CL-S might have the vafc, they might have different parts than your car...every car is different in one way or another. Just look at the tranny's, some break some don't.

Same and different...but more different than same hehe.

The venom just does stuff to your car without you actually having to tinker with settings.
With the vafc, you can change how your car reacts at different rpms and monitor all this. Like how your fuel is at different rpms and stuff.

Calm the hell down everybody! Look im not demanding an answer, if you want, then answer...nobody is putting a gun to your head. The search is a bitch, 90% it brings back shit that has nothing to do with what you queried. I know what a DYNO is, i wanted to know how that effects the performance of the V-AFC.my bad if i wasn't clear on that.

they dyno does not affect the performance, but it allows you to program the thing in 100RPM increments for fuel and air pressure...you can also set teh vtec engagement point and stuff like that...

I tuned my CL-S on the dyno with the V-AFC and headers, and CAI and it only got me 3hp and 2ft/lbs....Honda cars fuel delivery systems are running at over 90% efficiency already, so unless you're going forced induction or NOS V-AFC is not worthwhile...
