Oh man you had me with the dog thing too. Damn I did not know the airbags hit hard enough to bust a winshield! Thats crazy. But its better then having your face break the windshield.

Your mom is on the right track, but forget church. With your luck, you need help from an even higher authority. The Swedes. You should start driving a Volvo.............
..............18-wheeler.
Seriously, though, I feel your pain. Back in June, almost the same thing happened to me. Going full-speed through a green light, some idiot in a work van (not wearing a seatbelt & talking on his cell phone, on top of everything) decides to run the red light (arrow) he's got, cut across 3 lanes of traffic to make a left turn right in front of me, and present me with a nice obstacle. If he'd slammed on the brakes when I entered the intersection, I would have been on my merry way, but instead he SPED UP and made sure I T'd him up perfectly. I should have gotten turbo-jets installed so I could have flown over him, or gotten that "elevator car" with the missile from "The Great Race" -- only way I could have avoided it. The dude was partially ejected from his passenger-side window, and was somehow walking around afterwards, bloodied and missing teeth, but alive.
Good thing I was buckled up, the airbag worked, and I was in a Buick with a giant engine in front to protect me. And now, I've got the CL-S, so it all worked out for the best.
So many morons with 3,000-pound weapons in their hands on the roads out there.
BTW, in my accident, the windshield was also cracked from airbag impact. I lost consciousness for a minute or so when I went back into the headrest (and it opened me up in the back of the head too, requiring 5 staples, but that was a badge of honor, haha).
Hope it's totaled out quickly, and you get a minimum amount of......... how shall I put this........ insurance-company-like behavior from your insurance company. Best of luck!

I'm just thinking of talking to my buddy who is a state trooper and seeing if I can purchase a ramming bar thats made for their cruisers. The guy would have bounced right off of it if my car was equipped with that.
As for insurance like behavior, I definitely know where you're coming from. But the fact that I am not at fault will more than likely be beneficial on my end. Im just wondering how to go about handling this repair if they decide to, because I have a set of coilovers coming in 2 weeks and an upgraded intercooler. So I think one shock is shot on the right side and my intercooler looks damaged. So instead of them spending the money on oem parts that I'm just going to take off anyways, I'm wondering what I should do.. Decisions, decisions.

Even if they fix the car, i would sell it and get a different bmw that hasnt been in an accident and just put ur coils and other parts on it. Either way good luck and hope everything works out.
Btw a ramming bar on a bmw, never seen that before i would have to point and laugh.

If the insurance company decides its repairable and you choose to get it repaired at their shop I don't think they will put anything but OEM or OEM like parts on there because if they used anything else and something went wrong later the insurance company could be liable for using those parts. Now if you decide to get it repaired at a shop of your choice and you know those guys they can probably work the other parts in somehow in their estimate. Usually shops in the companies network go by the book.

Just wanted to give an update. I talked to the responsible party's adjuster and he said it is going to be a total loss because the damage under the car is pretty severe.
Ughh, time to car shop..
There is a $75 finders fee for anyone who can find me the following...
2009-2010 BMW 335XI (They call it a 335i Xdrive now)
Under 20,000 miles
Around $38,000 price for a 2010 and $34,000 for a 2009
Montego Blue
Black Interior
Sedan
Automatic Tranny with Steptronic
Paddle Shifters
Fully Loaded, sports package, premium package, cold weather package, comfort access harmon kardon sound, leather, doesn't need to have Navi but ok if it does.
:-( So sad, I really liked that car.

Sucks, but in all honesty it's for the best. Trying to repair that probably would've started a war between you, the insurance company, and the repair shop. It's VERY hard to get damage like that back to perfect. Count your lucky stars, my friend.
Au contraire, mon ami, many insurance companies like to use aftermarket parts because they're a nice bit cheaper, and usually put that in your policy. The number of problems they get from using aftermarket parts < the amount saved from using them.

Some insurance companies have an option where you specify only OEM parts, but you pay extra for that.

Ahh, the customer service question.. I mean, it's ok, I really didnt need customer service because the Procede install wasn't very difficult. But I did have a problem the last 3 weeks since upgrading to the new firmware where I could only go to Map 1 (Which is the only one I really ever used) but I wanted to use a new map which allowed the car to run N/A mode to try it out and it wouldn't switch.
I sent him a few pms and he never got back to me. So that was a little frustrating but the fact that I never used the Map 3 mode it wasn't really a rush for him to get back to me.
Overall, Im satisfied with the product and would recommend it to someone if they wanted to spend the money.
Oh ya, the adjuster called and gave me my settlement amount!!! Time to car shop again.
Anyone have suggestions on color? Did you guys like that blue? Or would the dark space gray be better. There are so many white & black bmws though so I kinda was not wanting those colors, I just don't know.
Also, it feels so informal with the screen name, the names Bill if you prefer.

Bill,
Sorry to see such a nice car destroyed by some other asshat driver. That blue is one sharp color. The 335 would also look good in 'arrest me' red as well, hehe. Hope you can find a comparable BMW to utilize all the goods you had in the pipeline.
Good luck!

Zeta, I gotta agree that the BMW red is pretty nice but it makes me wonder if that is a better choice for a weekend car vs something I have to drive everyday.
As for the deal I got, it seriously is going to be hard to find. I've looked everywhere online and have only found two Montego Blue cars in the entire US...

I agree, I think the Blue or Red with the same wheels would look very nice! At one time I was looking at buying a E39 M5 and the only colors I liked was the red and blue.

Ha thanks vik but I think I know a way to change my car luck. I'm going to buy a rabbit foot and a horseshoe and put them in my car then I'm going to have it blessed by an Indian shaman.
If that doesn't work I'm just taking public transportation for the rest of my life.

No offense to anyone who may have been given a black eye by an airbag but if that happened then that means theyre not sitting right in their seat. The steering wheel is suppose to be aimed at your chest for the exact reason like u said bout the airbag. But when it came out it seriously felt like a heavyweight punched me in the chest. I also got an airbag burn on my right arm. We both had our seatbelts on and the windshield crack was also from the airbag so that tells you something about the force

Just saw this Bill, glad that you and your wife are OK, it's a shame about your Bimmer, but take it from me, you would NOT want that car back. It would never be the same again. Hope you find something else just as good if not better, let me know if I can help you in the search locally at all. In the end, I'm just glad you and the wife are OK
