A Chrysler-only exclusive, this Chrysler CS sport wagon is brewing for the 2003 model year.

Sharing the RS minivan platform, the modern-day station wagon will be powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 and possibly an optional 4.7-liter V-8. With luxury in mind, the CS will be outfitted to compete with BMW’s X5 and the Lexus RX300. They are also hoping to gain some sales from Volvo, Saab and Audi wagon customers.

The CS - often referred to as the Citadel, the name given to Chrysler’s concept sport wagon - will be available in front-wheel-drive as well as all-wheel-drive. Prices are expected to start in the upper $30,000 range.

With word from inside Auburn Hills that the CS will be delayed at least six months, we expect it to hit dealerships in mid-2002. It will be built in the Windsor, Ont., minivan plant.
