you know, after reading all the idiotic bashing of the little hybrid that could, I just want to ask, since you guys think that its such a piece of sh*t, how many of you fairies will be willing to go risk your life right now and fight the towel heads for their oil, so you can run your enzo's while your soccer moms run their POS SUV's?

I'll just buy a tank and fill it up for future use. 6000 gallons should last a while. 20,000 maybe?

If they let me in I would. Too old now.


Fact is yes this car is a "great engineering marval" however it will never be a mainstream car, at least not for 10+ years if it is at all. I think Toyota paid Motertrend to get the award. I look at their website alot, & for months they had these ads for that car, as well as the other hybrids. Then it "wins". I agree with jens & others these mags are good for pics, & stuff, but I wouldn't base my choices on their reviews.

Just flipping through my MotorTrend of the last couple months and well let's see... according to the advertisements... it looks like the Chevy Malibu, Mitsubishi Gallant or even the M45 should've won -the Prius has a couple smaller ads. Most of the ads are SUVs like the Durango, Xterra and MDX. Hmmm. Maybe you were reading the Sierra Club magazine?

Hybrids are hopefully the wave of the future especially once Ford gets the hybrid Escape going and Honda does the proposed NSX hybrid. Good technology that is overdue. Hydrogen on the other hand will take awhile longer.

toyota sold as many prius' in november as it did es330's, I would say that is pretty main stream.

The RX 400H is coming next year spring, that is right, a LEXUS LUXURY HYBRID. Inside officials have stated it is faster than the GS 430, a 0-60 in mid 5s vehicle. The car rockets to 90mph and tapers off. It's b/c of the instantaneous torque of the electric engines. Like the Prius, no plugging in, no maintenance. The new GS will offer AWD and Hybrid tech as well.

Toyota has promised by 2010, all cars/SUVs will be hybrids

I'm talking about on the website. Not in the mag.

I still feel this hybrid thing is a fad for now & once it's newness fails so will the cars. Again that's IMHO.

I think it's cool that new technology is getting recognized. I wouldn't buy one personally, but as soon as they can make a hybrid that looks good and can perform like an NA Gasoline engine, I'll buy it.

I've heard rumors of a new RL Hybrid...now THAT would be cool, provided it doesn't have a gigantic ass end like the TL and TSX
yup, coming out the same time as the new GS, hybrid (both cars should offer AWD too) which means, the RL is focked again.
