CD Player ERROR - ER - E1

I have searched many threads, but still can't figure it out...

I have tried unplugging the battery, taking the fuse out for 1 hour, but the error is still there. Also, I looked through the slot with a flashlight and I cant see any cd's... I tried holding the eject button, and nothing happens. This started doing this (and maybe its a pure coincidence) right after I shampooe'd my engine. My SRS light is also ON.

I've tried almost everything I know and read of... Any suggestions ?

This happened on my 03'. It ended being replaced by the dealer.

I had it happen to my old 02. CD's got jammed. They replaced it. I got my CD's back 6 months later.

I have the extended warranty, but they seem to say its not covered on warranty and that its only covered under the 3 years or 60,000 kms...

Anyways, I dont want to have to replace it since they will probably charge me $650 to replace it.... i might as well just get a DVD screen...

Suggestions? :ugh:

Check the coverage of your warranty. It should have a check list of what's covered & what isn't. Sounds to me it should be covered. Don't take the word of whoever your speaking to.
If it isn't you can get a used radio from black market & install it yourself it's not hard & it's a direct plug in.

I know this will sound strange, just punch the CD Player with your fist while pressing the CD button over and over (the one that loads different CD's (1-6)) Keep doing this until your CD player starts working again. Works like a charm.

I had this happen and the dealer replaced it and I'm still waiting on the CD's. If this isn't covered under the extended warranty then why even have it. :annoyed:

My car was out of factory warranty, but when I called Acura Customer Care they replaced it as a "one time good will adjustment". I got my CDs out before going in by continually pushing the eject, CD and number buttons. There is some magic in the combo there I guess and eventually they'll come out (maybe).

I told you! I've had this problem for 20,000 + miles. Everytime it messes up I would just smack it with my fist, not too hard while pressing the 1-6 buttons. I think a CD's gets stuck while changing and that's what causes it. A good smack to the CD Player seems to jar it loose. I got it down to an art, 2 seconds or less.

Sure. Curl up your fist back at the first knuckle, so your not making a full fist with your right hand, place it right above the LCD where it display track information and knock on it hard. Don't be a wimp about it, it will not break it. While doing this with your other free hand press the CD change buttons 1-6 and eventually it will jar the problem CD loose, it will act strange for a second, LCD will not display any CD info while it's trying to locate it, it will make a sound like it's trying to change the CD and then all of a sudden it will work. If you want to solve the problem, whatever CD it was stuck on remove immediately.

Regards

Ok, here's a better fix...

I've had this problem on my 01 CL-S since I bought it brand new, but I never bothered to take it in... I should have. It seems like the eject mechanism doesn't always grip the CD well enough to eject it. The problem is especially bad when you're using CDs that have a home made printed label (paper) on top.

Here is the fix I finally found, that is much less destructive to the CD player:

1. Press eject
2. You'll see the slot open, and hear the motor trying to eject the CD.
3. While the motor is trying to eject the CD, take another CD, insert it just a few millimeters into the slot, and gently depress the CD that is stuck. Basically, you're just applying a small amount of downward pressure on the CD that is stuck.
4. The CD will get traction and eject itself.

This works every time, and although it's a pain, it doesn't seem to damage the head unit like punching it will. I'm pretty sure punching it is just jarring it enough to allow the motor to gain traction on the CD surface.

Anyway, I'm kicking myself for not getting this replaced under warranty years ago, but it was such a minor issue that I just couldn't be bothered to do it at the time, and 3 years rolls around way to quickly... :ugh:

this happened to me a while back. stick a credit card at the bottom of the CD slot (not too far in), like you're wedging the door open. could be your door is jammed. worked for me and i haven't had a problem since

15 years later, this just happened in my '02, and it actually worked, the CD was stuck, hitting it helped knock it loose!! 🤣🤣

JahRed206 Aug 3, 2021 07:03 PM

hit it with your fist. verified

I just bought my 03 cL-S (my 4th cL). radio worked but cd's wouldn't load, nothing stuck. I'm glad I check this thread cause I give a good smack with hand like a karate chop to the top (where it says "6-compact disc changer") and I happened to be holding down "load" button but I think its just the chop that skips the shop! operation normal. now for t-belt major service and some more TLC. thank u!
