I was going to my friends house for New Year's Eve and this Cavalier kept driving next to me. We ended up at 2 lights next to each other. When they went green, I pulled away slow, and sped up to about 60 (55mph 2 lane road) which I always do. I had my fiance in the car, so I had NO thoughts of racing. At the 3rd light, we were next to each other again, but he took off. I did my usual (slow start, then up to 60mph). Once I hit 60, I caught an started to pass him. Well, he then caught up to me and stayed right even with me. Now, I was begging my fiance to let me race him to the next light (about a mile or so away) and I told her if it was red, I'd stop, and it would be over. I was trying not to laugh at this guy (he even had HIS girl in the car). Finally my fiance agreed, so I dropped the car into D3. Not even half throttle, and I was gone. I looked down and was at 100mph!! I slowed through the light which was yellow, and he got stuck at it (eventually). Why do some people even try? If it was a Z24 or something, then OK, but this was the lowest model Cavalier (same as my friends). They have NO BALLS. Anyway, it felt great and I got to tell the story at my friends house!! Happy New Year!!

LOL... I wonder the same thing many a times.

Why do people try? Whats the point? Especially when they have a passenger... is embarresment a COOL thing nowadays?

Just sad...really really sad! If you are going to line up your cavalier to race someone,better make sure you are next to a Neon or a Sentra...Funny story, though.

My opinion is people wanna see how fast a car can go, what kinda kick it has. Thats just my opinion, some people may have never seen what a TYPE S (or any car for that matter) can do so they try and start a race even though a good part of the time they are doomed for embarassment.So in the mist of all their embarassment they might get some joy in seeing themselves get blown away. hopefully they don't do it twice though.
