Carwashes
I've heard some horror stories about automatic carwashes scratching the rims. I'm now afraid to try it. Does anyone have any stories or information about carwashes scratching our rims? I know I can hand wash it, but it's a lease and sometimes I just don't have the time.

Damn automatic good for nothing, 'touchless' car wash. They forget to tell you that the rims are not 'touchless'. Got both of my BBS Breyton Inspirations (close to $400/each)scratched up on the driver side.

got them while entering in to the thing where your wheel drops in to start the car wash, and after I was done, scratched it w/ my rear coming out. NEVER AGAIN will I got to a drive through touchless, laser wash places.

Just check the height of the wheel rails at the car wash before you go through.
The one I use has rails lower then the wheels... so it works fine.

Beware, even the drive in touchless without rails can be trouble. Last june I went to one , the next day I discovered lines running down the front of my hood and down my front fenders. I discovered that the rinse cycle was not up to snuff and the detergent etched my paint. After 2 months and much back and forth I was finally issued a check for the damages. I now have a new set of toyo proxy's thanks to the carwash. Will get the repaint when they finish Route 53 construction and I feel reasonably assured my hood will be safe.

My rear profile on the tire is 35 and the front is 40 so I have no such lucky. Lucky you!
