Car ticked 100K this morning

Wow, 1st car I ever had to have a trans last till 100K.:tomato:
I must say the 6mt is very reliable.
2 IACV's
2 Purge solenoids
1 IMRC
Power steering rack
Power steering pump
Cat converter
That's about all that failed on this car.
I picked the car up at 44K miles.
Most mods went on at around 48K miles.

My 1st MT had 28K miles & my 02 auto had 18K when I got rid of them.
They didn't have any problems at all.
Too bad I'm done with Acura though. I don't like the new cars.

Conrats!

ANC297 02-01-2011 02:31 PM

Not too bad. I guess these cars really will last forever. I just hit 102k, and the only thing I've ever had to replace that wasn't wear and tear or maintenance items is one brake switch and now a purge valve solenoid as well.

And there is a guy that just posted on the tl side with over 400k.

CL-S progression 01 02-01-2011 03:24 PM

i don't mean to be a dooshbag but if to go through all those items in only 100000 or 56K of u owning it that's not something to write home about. you listed 8 things that went on the car so that's every 12500miles you needed to fix something?

I don't blame you for not liking acura anymore

fuzzy02CLS 02-01-2011 04:38 PM

I also measure things in dollars....
The only things to cost a significant amount of $ was the power steering stuff.
Also none of that left me stranded like a dead trans would have.
Coming from me where I've been stranded many times in past cars, this car is a diamond.

CL-S progression 01 02-01-2011 05:33 PM

yea my car did shat out 2 trannies, nothing else tho, not a thing... both times tho i could drive wherever i wanted to fix it.. so i was happy with that aspect

and yes i too have been stranded many times in my previous ford probe.

I nicknamed it the Probelm LOL thing ate 3 alternators, pulley sheard, accesory belts squeaked, exhuast always leaked. car was hard to idle right... everything was a MESSSS..

the cl is a jewel i must admit.

hope u enjoy ur next whip

Jacobpockros 02-01-2011 05:53 PM

So your getting rid of it now?

AnthraciteTypeS 02-01-2011 06:00 PM

I think he meant hes done with Acura for his next vehicle. Im sitting comfy @ 125k on the original auto trans. I've only done the recommended maintenance with the exception of changing the tranny fluid every 15k or so...No complaints

zac 02-01-2011 06:28 PM

Congrats. Im glad it was reliable for you. I wish I had a 6mt so I could be confident in my tranny...

civicdrivr 02-02-2011 01:26 PM

Congrats! Ive got over 133k on mine now. All original stuff for the first 103k. I needed my synchros replaced when the engine was built at 103k. The car is pretty reliable though, especially once I worked out all the bugs from the build.

Personally, I think its one of the last good looking Acuras they made. The 3rd gen TL is nice, but there are too many of them. Its also a pretty quick car, even by todays standards.

How long do you plan to hold onto it? Im looking forward to rolling past 200k. That should be sometime next year :tomato:

m733l 02-02-2011 02:07 PM

 i'm glad i have my 6mt.

+1 on the new acuras.

PDGCLS01 02-02-2011 07:30 PM

+2 on new Acuras. Im very disappointed in the direction Honda and Acura have gone. They have dropped just about EVERY Sports car except the Civic Si. Who wants a civic nowadays? They are everywhere! No more S2k, NSX, Integra, RSX.....What are we supposed to enjoy now? A Hybrid CRZ? They are all big bulky and oober expensive now. Its all about the technology and hardly about performance. :( Makes me sad. I wont leave Acura or Honda after this car. Ill just go back to old school DA integras and DC2s :)

CL-S progression 01 02-02-2011 08:01 PM

and that`s why we still got the cl-s.. cause it`s that good.

CLassy02 02-02-2011 08:10 PM

Must be nice. I turned over 171k right after new years in my 02.

CL-S progression 01 02-02-2011 09:04 PM

see that just shows how good those motors are though... they are indestructable practically..

that motor in 2000 was way ahead of it`s time.. IMHO

Jacobpockros 02-02-2011 09:26 PM

There is a member on here named "rush" who street races with his CL all of the time, and he has around 200k on his car  These motors are crazy reliable

VIPCLS 02-02-2011 10:09 PM

:butthead:Rock on!

CLassy02 02-03-2011 04:59 AM

If only they would've done the same with the transmission...

Rapture 02-03-2011 03:21 PM

Wait OP, you haven't had to replace any motor mounts?

I've had my 03 for almost 3 years, and all that's gone wrong has been 2 motor mounts and a headlight (which still might be messed up... have to wait and see, from what I hear)

and my trans is an auto, but it still shifts pretty smooth, so *knock on wood* I guess it helps that I granny the fsck out of the car. I barely let my RPMs go over 2k while the car is still warming up.

Oh yeah, forgot about those. 1 set.
