The car REPOSSESSION ROBOT!
This will be on TV at 5:00 tonight on ABC television news, at least in Chicago.
I did a quick internet search on this but found nothing, this device is so new.
No, it is not a robot that opens your car and drives off with it.
I only heard it described on the radio as I got home, so I am clueless to what it looks like.
It was described as an add on device to your car between the dealer and the lender.
By radio frequency, if you fall far enough behind in your payments, the bank radios the robot to disable the ignition of the car, stranding you.
And I am strictly guessing here, but I bet it will have position reporting so the real repo man can come and get it.
AIN'T TECHNOLOGY GRAND?

some car dealership here used that (early last year I think). Those are used in car dealerships that sell cars to people with bad credit. This particular dealership got put out of business because this device endangered the driver when the car cut off while moving.

Sorry about the double post, guys, I made the original, this one, about 35 minutes ago, and it didn't show. Figured it didn't "take".
I'll go delete the new one, if allowed.

Just saw it. Little black box, about the size of a pack of cigarettes with four buttons. Curiously, it showed the owner plugging the device into a standard, 4 wire phone jack under the steering wheel, suggesting it could be disconnected. Hmmmm, but no worry for me, I'm paid for.

this is old news.
my buddy works for a car repo place, they find the cars easily becasue of a GPS device hidden in the car. They are installed by those lenders who say "$0 Down" "Bad Credit OK"
Since the buyer is high risk, they know the chances of them falling behind is almost 100%.
When they get the call, the exact location of the car is given. He goes with the tow truck and scoops it up.
kinda scary.

Damn that would be some scary shit if the car just shut down on you like that.
How about if you were on a date and while driving the car shut off saying "you haven't payed your payments, this car is being repossessed."

It can be reset by telephone for emergencies & making phone payments. But, if you're late & don't pay up, you ain't going nowhere. They are still in debate of it's legality...but buyers are aware of the system BEFORE they drive off with their 'new' car.

there is a dealership up here that does this. it really is a good program for people that don't have credit or go thru divorces etc.
they have to make weekly or bi-weekly payments. there is a device in the car that will allow you to start the car only if your payment is made.
if you're payment is due i think a light on the box will flash. if you don't make the payment using i believe gps, the car will not start until a payment is made. once you have the payment made, they communicate with the box and it allows you to start the car.
kinda ingenius. and no that is not how i pay for my cl-p fockers!!!
