Car Meets Tow Truck

After 192,000 miles and 10 years, my CL finally meets a tow truck. Once the tranny is fixed hopefully it will go for another 192,000 miles.

(Sorry, but for some reason I have not mastered how to place images in the postings so I put the link.)

I want to thank everyone on the forum who helped with the diagnosis of my tranny trouble as well as suggestions for repair - especially Rajca. The shop doing the work on my car is also going to install an ATF cooler, so hopefully that helps with tranny #3.

Your car looks like it has 20,000 miles, no doubt it can run for another 192,000

Yeah, I take really good care of my baby. The only blemishes on the exterior are two door dings on the passenger side. On the inside the center console armrest looks a little tired but that is about it. I'm contemplating replacing it.

Like I'm sure all of us, my OEM wheels were pretty scraped up. I saw a set of brand new unused Accord Coupe wheels with tires on craigslist for $800 and scooped them up about a year ago. I put the Acura center caps on and they look pretty good.

I guess my car is not as unique as I thought.

Reminds me when my CL shut off after hitting a bump - to the flatbed it went!

1 front motor mount, 1 ground, and $800 later shes good as new. G/L with the tranny.

It's funny you should mention a motor mount. The shop just called to tell me that 2 motor mounts and 1 transmission mount were broken. My guess is when the tranny started engaging and disengaging, the force from the bucking broke them.

Actually, it's no coincidence. All CL's come with bad motor mounts. One of mine gave out too. The auto's have bad motor mounts, but the 6-speed's motor mounts are even worse

She's finally back with the new tranny and ATF cooler.
There is definitely less gear noise on this tranny compared with the last one. It's kind of weird looking down at the tranny and no longer having the oil jet installed. The mechanic told me the top housing looked brand new so he figures it was a tranny that had the second gear fragment and damage the housing in it's previous life.

The shop also did a great job with the ATF cooler installation - it virtually looks like it was installed at the factory.

I am very happy right now.
