Can I install XM Radio in my CL-S?

I bought a nice white 2001 Acura CL-S in late August 2001. It works great!, a great car!

I would like to install XM Radio in my Acura. However, my car does come with an excellent radio, Bose speakers, etc. Is it still possible to install an XM Radio. Will the present radio have to come out? Is it an add-on? I know that there also needs to be an antenna installed, which comes with the XM package.

Does anyone have XM Radio in their car already? How is it? Is it worth the money or time?

The website for XM Radio is http://www.xmradio.com - if anyone wants to go and check it out.

IMHO, I don't think XM radio is really worth it unless you like a variety of music and you do alot of long distance travel in your car..

and as far as know, I don't think anyone has it yet..

The Bose is only slightly above average.. and the CL-S doesn't have a sub..
if I were you, spend the money on a sub and make some of your own CDs.

But if you want to install it, I'm almost certian that there are modules you can add to existing system rather than replacing..

These guys were in Times Square this morning with all kinds of promotional stuff...

Anyways, Sony makes a unit, model DRN-XM01C, that uses a cassette adapter and mounts on the dash. Here's a link -

http://www.xmradio.com/sony_receivers.html

Don't know how great the audio will be routed through the cassette deck. (Or even if the programming is worth the hassle...)

I hope I'm wrong, but this XM Radio stuff looks like it's going to go the way of Iridium and Ricochet.

Lots of catalogs and pictures of the Sony unit seem to be appearing...

Here is a link to the Crutchfield site with pricing ("in stock"/$299.95/etc)

Yes, very good question... (Noise, frequency response -- I sure would NOT want some great CD quality audio pumped though any of the cassette heads I've had. But that's just me...)

Sheet. My friend has this already... and it's cool as hell.

He's got it hooked up through an RF modulator (can't comment on what I think of that), but the sound quality is much better than any normal radio station you can pick up.

Music selection. Great. No commercials. Music you don't hear anywhere else. Great, and sometimes raunchy comedy.

If you spend any amount of time in your car, it's much better than listening to HOT94.2 FM... oh I forgot, the NEW hot92.4fm.

Yes it is, I work at Best Buy in the Car Audio dep.

We carry:

A pioneer 3300 and a XM tuner package for $399
Or you can go with just the FM modulater from pioneer for $299

If you want to go with sony, You can go with the Plug N play Tape and cig lighter one. For $299 (IMO this one is not a good connection) Or you can go with Sony's FM MOD. for $399.

I would go with The Pioneer model, UNLESS you want to use your XM radio in the home then you should purchase on of the SONY's and you can pick up a home kit for another $149.

XM is $15 to activate
W/ a 9.99 fee a month.

It is really nice, sounds crystal clear, and I GET IF FOR FREE!!!!
( that is why I have it ha ha

Hope this helps
Anymore questions, you can ask.....

Later
Dave

EDIT: My bad i forgot the atenna's
We carry a glass mount for $99
and a roof mount for $79
and for all you with a SEMI, we carry it for $180
