CAI vs K&N drop-in

Has anyone done any dyno with the K&N drop-in filter?
I wonder if there's a big difference between the CAI and the filter that would justify paying $200+ versus $50+ for the drop-in.

The CAI and the drop in air filter are totally different; nobody is goin to run for a dyno just for the drop in air filter, that is just stupid. You will get 5-10 HP for the cai.

Btw. the CAI sounds louders and storng then the air filter , that's one big reason why ppl buy it. The engine produce more power when it gets more cold air

The drop-in K&N is ok if you are looking to geta few more miles to the gallon on your S. However in previous cars, I have found that the stock air intake tubes are rough inside developing turbulence in the air flow to the manifold, so using a CAI with it's mandrel bent alum. tubing gives more smoother cooler air = more HP. about 5-8 average.
Go w/ the Red AEM.

I have the K&N drop-in and can't say that it increases HP at all. What it does do though is allow for better gas mileage.... about 4 mpg better on the hwy!

Built a cheap prototype CAI for my stepsons
90'Integra and easy 8hp.increase. Am building
a custom CAI for my CL-S that should gain at least 10hp. Will test results with G-Tech. Have ordered parts to build unit but not yet arrived. Getting anxious! Put on Koni Yellows,Eibach pros and sways 2wks.ago and now have world class handling! CAI simply gives best bang for buck. Cheers!
