CAI Installation.... ???

I have a question for those who installed the CAI.

How much time should I allocate for the removal of the Stock air intake and installation of new CAI.

I guess it would be best to keep it for a weekend day project. I hate start on this project and see myself too late for work. I do not like working at night either.

Another question for Jens, a discounted tool shop is going out of business. I do not have a Torque Rench [Ratchet (sp)??]. I found that they have 2 type of Torque Rench.

A small one that can be adjsuted from 2-20 lb-ft. and One huge one that can be adjusted up 150 lb.ft. Dsicouted prices are $20 a piece ( 35-50% off ).

The question are those useful for the CL-S work or should I get something not too big not too small, or a powered one ?

Thanks for the answers...

Jens will know better than me, but I don't think I would use a 20 dollar torque wrench (even if it was half off) for any jobs that require tight torque specs...

You maybe right, but this is a discounted shop, where the posted prices are some 30%-40% off those at sears for example. Now the shop is going out of business so he is giving additonal 30% to 50% off, the small one is acutally a French one that has a kind of adjustable slide, the big one has the handle turns to the requied torque.

I have another question for those who installed the AEM or Injen. Both CAI will totally remove the rubber thing connecting the Throtle body to the stock intake.

I read a warning in the instruction that the installation should be done while the engine is cold. They warnned that the water bypass hose could carry a hot water. Injen is providing a red hose replacement. It is the 23" 8mm one. Strange thing but they are reuse a stock hose, the vacume hose?!!

it takes 30 minutes to gut the factory shit out. the hardest part is getting the bolt that is flush with the bottom of the air filter box. i took my battery out, and gave me some extra room to work with. Also, the resonator takes a little while to work it out, i suggest having somebody observe from above to help thread the big plastic intake thru the hole, because it is too big to just pull thru...

the 2 hoses that will be replaced are the 2 steel cased hoses. the water bypass hose will remain stock. also, i wasted so much time by trying to remove the stock air box without removing the tire and fenderwell liner. ended up taking everything off and it was much easier. may seem like alot of work to remove all of it but it definitely made things more accessible. just a piece of advice.

eman,

Thanks for the comments, I have to remove the liner, but I have to live with just twisting the wheel to the most left.

Also, I guess you are describing AEM hoses, as the Injen one supplied will replace the Water bypass and the breather line. They kept the Vacum hose (on the back) stock. I do not know why!!

Not installed yet, but from what I heard from Adam, it is throaty, like a V-8 rambling sound at VTEC range, It 2-3k rpm should be barley different from stock.

It's very light too. I noticed that where the hoses connects, their inner ends may need some filing and smoothing, just not to disturb the sucked cold air.

The filter is not tilted, and it's pointing horizontally toward the back of the road lamps casing.

If you're going to get one, get the one with the adjustment on the handle. I would definetly avoid the one with the slide. What brands are the torque wrenches?

The samll one is a french one. I do not know the brand of the other one. One thing about this shop, is that some times you see brands are blacked out. As you can buy the exact same one for 30%-40% more from sears, for example.

Does Craftsman make a torque wrench? You really can't go wrong with them.
