cable linkage shifters -- adjustment
Someone on another post asked a question about adjusting cable linkage shifters. I did not buy a Nissan product because the gearbox was so terrible. Anybody understand just what can be adjusted on this type of linkage and how it can effect a notchy feeling shift (such as 3 to 4)?
I suspect that has more to do with the transmission design, but I thought I would ask.

Typically on cars with cable linkages you can adjust the catch-point of the clutch (i.e. how far out you have to release the clutch before it catches). This is typically done so that as the clutch ages you can keep approx. the same amount of play in it until it dies. I'm not sure if an adjustment will do anything for a clunky shift in this case.
I do remember reading somewhere that the CLS clutch will automatically adjust durin the life of the clutch.
Hydraulic clutches, in my experience, are essentially unable to be changed in such a way.

Are we talking about the shifter or the clutch? Because the 03 has a hydraulic clutch. I don't see how you could adjust a clutch to change the feel of the shifter as long as the clutch is fully disengaging properly.
