buying an acura cl

I'm pretty close to buy an Acura Cl, I really like how the car looks the way it drives, but I just took a look at the problems with the tranny, i'm seriously rethinking now, did everyone had a problem with the tranny, I mean is it worth even buying the car, I would like to get an Idea...

Can you guys help me out.

i just bought a '01 CL-P with 31k on the OD... I got the extra warrenty from Acura because mine was Certified Pre-Owned...

If you do buy one, check with Acura to see if any transmission service has been performed...

Acura also extended the warrenty on the powertrain due to then known problems.

The only problem I have had is the brake warping... But other than that... I love my car!!!!!!!!!

Yeah what he said!!!

Just got my '01 CL-S a few months ago. Has 41k on it right now. Brakes need to be replaced (The rear which is weird). Make sure you have an extended warranty on it just to be safe, which is my rule on any used car. The tranny is already covered until 100k miles through Acura. You may notice the sunroof rattle, but the dealership should put on the Noise Reduction tape Honda has for free.

I just bought mine 01 CL-S 2 months ago and it has 58k on it...I say go for it. The tranny is covered til 100k and that is the only real big issue...These cars are just too much fun to pass up.

Bought my 02 cl-s 9 months ago with 35K now have 55K and original tanny only problem was the brakes warping, go for it and have fun. I remember reading somewhere earlier this week that only about 5% of cars are affected.

Buy it. It'll be fine. Only about 5% of the CL's have this problem. Considering the numbers, that's not much. Besides, the tranny is covered for 100K anyway, certified pre-owned or not.

at my 90k and I bought it 3 months ago with 86k miles. Original tranny, super fun to drive.
But now getting close to 100k I am kind of worried.

how much to get the tranny replace by tranny shops anyway? anybody experienced this? I mean my tranny is still perfectly fine, just for peace of mind. Thanks

Ye i found the shop its in Maryland, my tranny was replaced at 112,000 thousand miles. Currently the car has 140k so there is still hope for you. I would say you have another 30-50k befor any problems

If I were you, I'd try to get an '03 CLS 6MT. Much better car and takes to mod better. I traded my '01 CLS in for a CLS 6MT (very glad I did so) which I still have.
