Buying 03 CL-S on LI

I finally decided to get the wheels in motion and go out and purchase a 2003 CL Type S w/ Navi Auto.

I've been to 4 dealers so far and i'm getting the starting pirce of $32,600. I got the best deal so far with Smithtown Acura of 32 even w/ Spoiler, wheel locks, mud guards and tints. All prices before Tax and DMV.

Any suggestions on where to go or any general tips? What have some you Islanders paid recently?

Any help would be appreciated.

Smithtown isn't bad

I bought my 2001 CL Type S from Smithtown Acura back in July of 2000. Salesperson was Tommy Van. Who are you working with?

I can tell you to stay FAR AWAY from Rallye Acura.

Had I not bought from Smithtown, I probably would have gone to Bay Shore.

Good luck!

At Smithtown I got Rich Schaeffer. Definately was a good salesperson. Said he could get 32 even with all the stuff i wanted on it.

Yeah i didn't even go to Rallye Acura, I know people who have bought their BMW's there and I've heard they're over priced.

Only reason i'm going back and forth is 've heard people getting like $30,300 base price for a type s with nav. Thats just nuts. Either way i'm in no hurry so i'll wait and see. Thanks for the help.

Really? Haven't even tried them yet. Thanks for the heads up, i'll probably forget that all together as i'm in Nassau anyway. Smithtown and Bay Shore aren't to far out anyway.

NO NO! Go to Tommy Van, mention my name and get me the hundred bux. I'll give you the free oil change. Deal?

I think you'll do best at Smithtown.

As for Rallye...I didn't like them from the start. I walked in and started browsing. There were probably 4 or 5 salespeople just sitting around. After 15 minutes, one finally came up to me and he was a total dick. I said see ya! Never went back.

Rallye Acura!! Were you expecting better, the dealer is in an "extremely" wealthy part of LI.....Rallye in general is notorious for being an annoying non-competitive dealer. The owner just passed away last week and his second wife of only 10 years is selling the network for $127M and its all her's (not bad at all).

Anyway, Smithtown is the way to go....George the manager is totally cool, I have known Rick S. for years (its not Rich )- he has been with Acura from the beginning.

keep in mind my parents have been LOYAL Rallye BMW/MB customers for 20 years!!!!...and this is how they repay our loyalty...whateva

Acura Cl type best price.

I bought my 2001 Acura CL type S wo/nav and spoiler for $29.250 plus tax at Rallye Acura on Aug. 2000. Best price I could get on LI. Rose Reinhard was a great salesperson. Check out PAA. You might get a good price there. Good luck!

for some reason i seem to be the only one not having problems with rallye. Every time i go in there the service manager sees my car and he talks to me for a good 45 minutes to an hour then my cars ready. my rearview mirror broke they got the part and fixed it in 20 minutes and washed my car for me. i got my cl-s for 31,3 with spoiler, splashguards and sunroof visor.

I have just been offered an '03 CL Type-S w/ spoiler for 29,300. Sounds like I should take it.

FYI: I bought my 2003 CLS 6spd for 29,100 (w/o navi). That's about 500 over invoice. I added a spoiler, trunk cargo tray and cigarette lighter/ashtray. Wheel locks were free

I probably could have gotten a better price, but the car I wanted wasn't on the lots of the 2 RI dealerships I went to (I wanted a Marino red w/ parchment & 6spd). Dealers can cut better deals if they have it in stock (they don't have to work as hard trading w/ other dealers).

If the car you got the quote on was a popular color, then that might explain the price. There is alot of small things that factor into how much a dealer will discount a car.

The CL Type-S I was quoted this price on is a 6sp, Black ext./int. w/ spoiler, but they have others including the Marino red w/ parchment you wanted. I am bidding to aggressive local daelerships against one another but will probably go with the lowest offer since I'm already pre-approved for outside financing. Regardless, I also have an invoice deal on a '02 Accord V6 at 3.9%. What a time to be in the market for a new car!

Why guys thanks for all the replys! And not even one telling me not to buy the car!

I got the best feeling at Smithtown Acura with Rick Schaeffer (my bad Beltfed ) He really was a great salesperson and i wouldn't even mind giving him the sale, even if I can find a better deal for only like two-hundred or so.

The guy at Hillside (Bayside) was like talking to a block of wood.

Valley Stream gave the same overall prices.

Island Acura's Internet Salesperson (Dave Hoffman) gave me a price for a 03 CL-S Anthracite Auto w/NAV for 30,995. It was pretty funny cuz when i took this price to the other dealerships, especially Smithtown, it appears that they all want nothing to do with Dave. To quote Rick Schaeffer, "The whole Island can't wait until Dave Hoffman retires."

Rallye is definately off my list (i'll shop for something's on the Miracle Mile but not cars) as is Paragon. I'm gonna stick to the dealers on Long Island either way.

I'm in no rush (sort of ) and besides a 2003 Anthracite CL-S Auto w/ Nav is nowhere to be found. Earliest way to get it would have them dealer trade one, but that means someone with a potential lead food drives it XXX amount of miles to the dealership. No thanks. So to get the car I want right off the truck, its gonna have to built and then shipped to the dealer. Looking at a December delivery.

BIGPOPPA21, most likely i'm gonna deal with Rick at Smithtown so PM me your name if ya want and i'll be more than happy to mention it to Rick.

RobonLI, same thing and if I see Tommy Van i'll see what i can do.

Beltfed, same thing if ya want. The more names the better.

Once again thanks for all the replies. I'll keep ya posted.
