Question Brakes/Rotors what do you have?

After getting my OEM changed and resurfaced for second time by Acura and my mechanic i think its time to maybe try something else!!!!

what setup do you guys have and where did you get it?
I need something that would last more than 10K

Right now my car shakes and grinds(i think thats my back pads giving up)

I did search but its so hard to figure out a "great" set up that would last a while.

So if you have something that you are really happy with please let me know.

what pads, rotors and where you got it from?

I got these links so far...
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...1&page=1&pp=25

http://www.ebcbrakes.com/

http://brakeworld.com/catalog.asp?page_id=categories

http://www.ajusa.com/cgi-bin/start?r=store&

My mechanic worked for Acura for 20 years and still does... he is die hard OEM fan.

But I'm tired of spending money for OEM stuff and getting 10K out of them.

Any info you have it would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!

Pads/Rotors/Where you got them/ how long u have it?

Thank you!

Did your mechanic use an on the car lathe? Sometimes its due to a run-out problem (excessive) as Honda/Acuras tend to work best with on the car lathe rotor resurfacing compared to bench lathe resurfacing.

Anyway, on a budget, I think Brembo OEM replacement rotors are a good bet if you are on a budget. As for pads, it depends what you are looking for. Is performance your objective, with noise, dust, pad life, and rotor life not a concern? Or is your objective low noise, low dust, and long pad/rotor life?

If you're aiming for braking performance, try Axxis Ultimate pads. They are noisy, produce lots of dust, and tend to wear out (and rotors) more rapidly, but their performance is generally bar none.

For a more OEM equivalent set-up, I'd try Akebono ProACT pads.

If you have $1300 to spend your best bet would be a Rotora BBK, but if you dont have that much money just do what i did i bought R1 Concepts Cross Drilled and Slotted rotors ( $330) and EBC RedStuff pads ($130) so for about $600 Shipped you get a great set of brakes

All I really care is longevity… I don’t care about looks and dust... all I want it is to last!

Everyone seems to be raving about green stuff… now I have to figure out what rotors.

Brembo blanks rotors & Akebono ceramic pads is an excellent replacement for OEM... It will also cost less and be better

EBC greendtuff pads are good but if you are like me and drive like a jacksass then i would go for Redstuff plus i heard that greenstuff can be a little soft

i have rotora bbk's in the front (slotted/drilled) and rotora rotors (slotted/and drilled), pads, and ss line. it's been 10k+ miles and still running strong. i tend to be on the faster side of driving so i use them harder than "standard". it has been the best mod and money well spent. i would have gone for brembo but there are double the price and really i think rotora is just as good for half the price.

i got them from excelerate.

i've got Rotora cross drilled and slotted rotors along with the EBC RedStuff pads. these along with some stainless steel mesh brake lines do wonders for our braking.

If you just need replacement rotors stick with ROTORA Slotted rotors.

If you are an aggressive braker go with thte ROTORA BBK.

listen to excellerate. that is the rotors i have on my car. with axxis pads. they have close to 60k on the fronts now. my rear pads and rotors lasted until about 145k miles. then the squeal strips started making noise.

I'm going to try DBA rotors up front this time and stick with Rotoras in the rear.

Haven't picked pads yet.
