Brake Question

I've noticed alot of you have changed out the calipers on these cars to either legend, nsx, etc... is it because our oem brakes shit the bed so quickly? I've owned my car for about 2 years now and have put less than 10k miles on her but am already seeing myself needing to replace the front pads and rotors.. just wondering if this is a recurring problem in these cars and what the potential solution could be...

CL brakes are wimps

I am now looking into BBKs for my CL. Reason is because I was given an ILX loaner car last week when my SRS light popped up & I brought it in for warranty repairs.

Right away, I've noticed ILX's brakes are 3 times stronger than my CL's brake. ILX is a very light car & it has stronger brakes than my CL, which is a heavier car. It could be the ILX is pretty new with 750 miles on it & my CL's brake are 14 years old. But I was thinking a heavier car needs a stronger brake to stop it.

Hence, I'm back looking into BBK kits. A few years ago, I was looking at Racing Brake's BBK kit but I saw there was a complaint in the web about its failure, so I kinda dropped the idea. But now, doing more searching, I saw this:
13-SL4 - Fastbrakes Wilwood 13" Front Brake Kits - Excelerate's Honda & Acura Store - Japanese Performance Specialist

My concern now is to get the dimensional data of the rotor's cross section to determine if there will be enough clearance for my wheel's ID.

If you happen to search for a better BBK kit, please let me know.

You still have a manufacturer's warranty on a 14 year old car?

I believe the SRS warranty is for life. My rear seat belt got jammed last year, and the dealership repaired it under warranty. I had to argue with a bitchy service manager about it though, as some other Acuras only have a lifetime warranty on certain parts of the seat belts while the 2G TL has a full seat belt warranty.

Good to know... I wish they'd post what's covered under lifetime warranty somewhere on their website.

From what I know, all SRS items are covered under lifetime warranty. Last year, the passenger seat belt buckle went. Last week, it was the driver side seat buckle that croaked. Both times, the Acura of Limerick did the free replacement, gave me a free car wash, & a loaner car.

I have 124000 miles and dealer changed my front pads at 115000. They had some life left at 3 mm. I am still on original rotors.

My my seat belt buckles have been replaced under warranty.

People upgrade because warped rotors are common. The dual pistons help with that.

The RL bbk is your best bet. Acura stamped bbk and will end up being much cheaper than anything else, aside from the legend/nsx. The RL will require rims that will clear them, or get spacers.
