Bought this totaled CLS6... Going to be parting it out...

THIS IN NO WAY IS A FOR SALE THREAD.

I bought this car for the tranny and only the tranny. The rest of it will be parted out.

As of right now, the headlights have 2 dibs on them and the center arm rest. I think thats about it right now.
The tranny is mine and thats non negotiable however I might sell my dead tranny from my CLS6. Perfect for a rebuild.

PLEASE NOTE!! I DONT HAVE THE CAR YET! I WILL BE PICKING IT UP IN ABOUT A WEEK!!

**MODS**

I made this thread to let people know that I will be getting this car in about a week. I'm not sure which way I want this thread to go as its either going to be a "dibs" thread or just a thread to talk about the car.

AGAIN, THIS IN NO WAY IS A FOR SALE THREAD.

ONE LAST TIME, THIS IN NO WAY IS A FOR SALE THREAD.

Wasting my time? Dont think so.

True... Never even looked at them honestly. I'll let you know though. They might be somewhere in somewhat good condition.

wait how is he wasting his time? so yeah in the end he'll have a piece lying around, but its fixing his car, and if the price is right, why the hell not...gotta be plenty of good parts in that thing obviously.

Definitely a tree or something fell on it. Crazy. If someone had been in there the roof and doors would have been cut off a regardless or their outcome.

dealer wanted $5800+- $200 for the tranny and another $500 to install.
I could get the the tranny wholesale for $4500 then paid my mechanic $300 to put it into my car and replace the leaking rear main. Oh but I forgot the shipping. Tack on $180

http://acuraautomotiveparts.org/acur...s=&view=normal

I could have the tranny rebuilt here locally for $3000
I have been calling junk yards around the stated (100+) to find a CLS6 tranny. Most times I would get the question "they made a 6 speed manual transmission in that car?"

Now I have reviewed a few thread recently in the BM section. If I were to sell all the parts that sold recently (within the past 2-3 months) I will be damn close to getting what I paid for the car.
Now look at it this way.
-I have supplied needed parts to the community.
-I get a used tranny from a car that was crushed and un-repairable for less than what i would pay for a used one.

Either way, I dont care if I make money on this (and i think there is a possibility that I might but just as well might flop). I just need the tranny.

But there are A LOT of usable parts from this car and people will/do want them.

So I'm sorry that I'm providing an opportunity for some people to buy some parts that they need/want.

I think what you are doing is great. You are doing something for the community. That should make you feel good. The problem with people these days is they forget what it feels like to help others. Sometimes good deeds feels better than making a profit. You do what YOU think is right Bro', good things will come to you in return.

Thanks Sleepy..
Like I said, I just need a tranny. I dont care how much I make back. I know for a fact that there are people who need parts and usually you dont find a car that was crushed like this where the front and rear are ok. I'm sure that there is a lot out of the interior that I can pull and sell to but that will have to wait until I get the car in my hands.

I mean I will be looking for more cars like this to part out (especially CLS6's) where the tranny is complete along with the motor. They pop up every so often and it all depends on how much they go for.

BTW, Yeu, i'm not trying to start beef but I hate it when people see the negative in everything. ESPECIALLY when its something that I do to my car and I post it here on the boards. I would not be doing this if I didnt need something out of the car.

If the motor doesn't sell within a few months, then I'm building a 3.5 with either CLS or RL pistons and going to try to sell it then. If not, and I still have my CLS then, I'll be dropping it into the CLS.
Then the motor out of my CLS will be rebuilt with all forged internals to build a "race" motor...
I might or might not be selling my dead tranny. If I dont, then its getting mated to this motor after a rebuild.

BTW, Sleepy, dont worry, I got you in my spreadsheet already...

How many miles on this beast. I may be interested in the axles.

And I agree with your comment about negativity crapping up your thread. With some effort, this gearbox could be a good deal after you sell off spare parts.

I dont know the mileage yet as they didnt provide it. I know for a fact its because the battery is dead that they didnt have a way to get the hood open to attach a charger. What I mean is that if you look, the one picture shows that the drivers door is kept closed with the seat belt. Not only so, the workers of these yards know that they are not to try to open the doors if they look like they cant. I have spoken with a few people about this and have seen this many times from where i am getting the car.

I'll be reporting the mileage in a few days when I get the car.

Not trying to be an asshole here but when it comes to the wiring harnesses, I would rather sell the whole harness. What I mean is that with the Navi system (someone has dibs on it now but I dont remember who right now), I will rip out the whole OEM harness and sell it that way. With the blinker button harness, I think thats part of the main harness that I would like to keep in one piece as its the 6 speed harness and someone can use it for a conversion

and nbennettksu:

I woud rather sell the whole motor complete... That way I dont get into ripping it apart...

I updated my spreadsheet with the current dibs

Anybody wanting dibs in this thread will have their message removed. You want dibs, PM the OP or get a 2 day temp ban.

OP please do not go back and forth with other members wanting parts in this thread. If you want to sell pm or go make a thread in the BM if you haven't done so already.

I closed this thread thread. No matter what you call it and how big you make the font and tell us it is not a sale thread, it is indeed exactly that and you know it.

You have gotten your message across and at least I didn't delete it. There is no need to questions and answers to be posted here when the proper place for them is in the Black Market.

It should stay on the first page here for a few days and soon you will get the car and then you can post a proper thread in the Black Market.

This will also save BigLizard a mountain of work trying to keep this clean, which is virtually impossible to do.
