Body Kit vs. drag coefficient vs. gas mileage

Those of you whom have body kits... Did you notice a difference in your gas mileage from having it?

imo most kits out there are for show only, meaning they have not been tested in a wind tunnel, so i don't think there is a difference in gas mileage, if not worst

It all depends what kind of kit you get my freind! i have had 2 different kits on my 01" cl-s, and gas milage differed between the two. averagely 40 miles difference per tank of gas!

are you serious?

I didnt' think we travel @ high enough speeds for body kits to make a difference...

what kits did you have?

putting a ski rack(which i don't do, just an example) on top of your car will kill gas mileage, just with normal driving.
so i would guess body kits could do the same

In the winter time, I kept a ski rack on this:

I took it off in the summer time. I never noticed a significant difference in MPG with or without it on there. I'm also one of those people who check there fuel milage on every fill up.

No idea on the drag coefficient part...but, I have not noticed a gas efficiency drop since the install of my kit.

why would this even be a consideration if you are looking at putting a body kit on?

Yea SLEEPY.....its true! both of the kits I have had have been from JT AUTOSTYLE......first was the type CR front with the EVO Bumper and TYPE C sides.......and that puppy had one hell of a Air damn in the front bumper......... You could actually feel the wind holding down the front of your car. Now I have the complete EVO III kit on my CL-S, but of course I had someone try to parrallel park, and backed into my bumper and cracked it down the middle! Once I get my camera back, i will post pics (once i figure out how to!)

Ahhh, I see. I've been to JT to get work done. I think I'll be going to them to get my ronjon lip kit painted and installed.
