Blizzaks wear out too fast!

Just after 3 months (first week of december 2001) and some 5000 miles on the Blizzaks, the Blizzaks are almost 50% done.

I just checked the tread thickness. The front tires wore out 2X as fast as the rear ones. I would say 50% tread left on the front and 75% on the rear. I do not know if the "darkside" reps were doing burn out on my snow tires.

With this very warm weather and the litlle snow we got
I am switching to my summmer tires (Nitto) this weekend.

I was expecting 3 winter seasons on those Blizzaks. I will "chalk mark" the tires and next winter, I would switch the front to the back.

Anyone had such short life from the Bllizzaks? I guess next time I will buy the Guradex. I almost never spinned (oh maybe once for 1-2 sec) or abused my Blizzaks. Howver the heavy front of the CLS could have contributed to their short life.

Hey I thought Blizzaks were not meant for everyday road use. If you live in areas where there's snow-packed roads then maybe, but doesn't the dry pavement burn them up even with normal driving?

Softer rubber == increased wear *and* the front tires on our car take the most "abuse"...

As to the exact mileage, etc -- it all depends on road type and conditions...

(Some "power driving" would really kill them quickly )

I have to disagree.
The first year I had my BLIZZAK’s on I went exactly 2,200-miles and they look like NEW.
I actually marked them LF, RF, LR & RR so I would know how to rotate them on the next install.

I think cornering speed may have a lot to do with their wear too.
I drove like a PUSSY all winter whenever I had them on.

Because of the WONDERFUL winter we are having I never even installed them this year.
I’m sure I have a good 3-4 seasons left on mine if I only drive 2-3 thousand miles a winter.

You would be surprised what different types of road surfaces and conditions will do...

And, sure, the cornering speed issue is the reason some people get 30K miles on max performance 3-season rubber and others get 6K...

if your running soft compound tires on a high hp vehicle you must rotate more often. every 1500 or so will double the tread life.
