Bleeding ABS
Did a search and there were theories of what has to be done but does anyone know the actual procedure (not bleeding in general, but in consideration of the ABS unit)? I've bled several non-ABS cars before but this would be my first ABS equipped bleed.
thanks,
DG

What I have read is that the ABS unit is a self contained unit seprate from the rest of the brake system. It only needs to be bleed when you replace the master cylinder. For regular brake fluid changes or regular bleeding, or brake work use standard bleeding procedures.

2 ways to do it
you can Pressure Bleed it through the Master cylinder... NOT VACUUM bleed throug calipers..(vacuum bleeding will not get the air out of the ABS unit.
or
you can manually crack each line open on the ABS unit while someone pumps the brakes and holds the brake pedal down.. then close it before they let the pedal up.. But this method is VERY MESSY...

need a pressure bleeder system silly goose...
I was not too happy with this one since it claimed that it is a 1 man job...
I used it but still needed to have my buddy pump the brakes while I bled the system at the bleeders on each calipers.

i use a one man bleeder for all my cars. i just havent done it yet to my cl. its about 18 inches long. most of it is clear tubing and about 2 inches of black tubing.
all ya do is open the nipple on the caliper after placing the tubing on it. and theb you can pump the brakes.
of course start from the furthest wheel from the brake fluid reservior and work your way up
