Bitch-slapped an IS300
The IS300 owner was driving like an ass. Talking on his cell-phone while driving WAY too fast and weaving in and out of lanes.
So I decided to speed up a little bit as he passed me. We were approaching a toll-booth. We both got in to a booth, right next to each other.
Well, the little shit looked over and gave a semi-degrading gesture to my wife. Bad move...
So, we both launched pretty hard out of the toll-booth. I was in the left-most booth, he was just to my right. There was NO FREAKIN' way he was gonna get ahead of me.
Needless to say, I OWNED his punk ass up to 85mph (3 car lengths), when I decided I didn't want my wife going nuts over my speed. So I slowed down.
The IS300 dipass was behind me, flashing his brights, getting on my ass. So I moved over to the center lane and he pulled up. He wanted to run.
I didn't bite. The roads were wet, my wife was in the car and after the little gesture he made, I didn't feel like making any more out of this.

It really doesn't bother me actually. It's really sad that some people act like that, regardless of what kind of car they drive. Especially around the holidays... LAME!!!
It's actually kind of funny that it was an IS300 driver, with all the flaming going on around here. I wonder if he was a IS300.net member.

is300 drivers are, for the most part, such faggy dicks...ive only met one is300 driver than wasnt a fucking loser and he is in his 30s and a respectable human being, seriously, what is it with those guys??? you go to their forum and its just rampant with the stupidest most arrogant people youd ever guess even walked the face of the planet. and most of them are total riceboys. get a clue fags, bottom barrell lexus doesnt mean shit

The enthusiast IS300 driver (the ones on the forum) will all tell you the same thing: "The IS300 is slow." No fucking news there. We know this, our car handles well, is fun to drive, but when compared to the others in it's class, it's slow. And our "bottom barrel" car doesn't mean shit? I'm sorry you feel that way. But for every person that says that the IS ain't shit, I'll find ten that say the same for the CL. It's just opinions.
You know, the IS driver that got killed in the story in this thread is exemplary of a class of people called "idiots", they can be found representing every kind of car on the road. I've found, and dusted, many CL driving idiots who did the same thing as the guy in the IS spoken of in this thread. The point is, just because a few morons drive an IS, doesn't mean we're all morons.

I don't want to start an IS vs. CL argument (although I fear I already did).. but come on guys.
Your car is faster stock, but a CL with 5K in mods vs. an IS with 5K in mods won't stand a chance, staight line or twisties.
For $3900 an IS owner can get a PLP Supercharger that puts his/her car up to 330HP.
I don't know much (no, I know NOTHING) about Acura CL mods, but what can $3900 get you guys????? I'm actually curious (I also own a TL Type-S and I wanna mod it).
The CL is front drive, the IS is rear drive. Our car has a better platform for performance, that it all. Your car is better for comfort, weather driving, and smoothness.
The CL has it's strong points and so does the IS.
But performance-wise, you're comparing a 2JZ-GE I6 to a honda V6. The 2JZ, when you start modding it, doesn't stop spitting out horsepower.

Niello Acura (in Sacramento, CA) told me that to put a comptech s/c on my TL (when the s/c is available for the TL) would cost me about $7000 by the time it was all said and done.
damn.... that's expensive.

go to the comptech parts forum, the guy who sells the stuff is named Dean, his screen name here is Deansbluesi he sells the supercharger for $3,900 shipped. $7,000 was merely your dealer trying to fuck you up your ass....as most dealers do on performance mod installation costs. if you have the know-how to install it yourself, you can get the comptech supercharger for $3,900 shipped and installed.

IS 300 5spd plus $3900 = 330-345HP, FR, 3200 lbs.

id like to see the proof that an off-the-shelf, out-of-the-box supercharger for the is300 can give you about 160 WHP!!! im not going to call bullshit on that, but i seriously would like to see some proof, that seems veeeerry optimistic from a supercharger and no other mods....considering is300's dyno at like 180 hp. show me the proof.

I like the IS300 but I wanted a 2 door car. I think they are pretty nice cars and look a fair deal better than a lot of the smaller 4 door sedans out there.
Stock for stock, the CL-S is faster. Deal with it.

I've got my dyno time in two days. I'll post my proof then.
Dyno sheets are all I consider proof of this sort of thing. One of the dudes on IS300/net posted a dyno featuring stats proving my statements.
The reason the S/C for the IS provides so much more power is because it runs at a higher boost pressure than the comptech unit. The 2JZ-GE is a motor that can handle high boost.... the V-6 in the CL and TL can't... plain and simple.
The engine in the IS takes very well to boost and can handle lots of it. It seems that the engine in the IS was designed to take boost and do a lot with it.... cause that's what they do.

and instead of spending 2-3 grand having a dealer install it, do it yourself, its all bolt on and not all that hard to do after reading the directions. And also horsepower gains are relative to stock acceleration....i'm just throwing out numbers here dont quote me but say the IS does what a 15.2 in the 1/4 and the Cl-S 6spd does a 14.6...add the supercharger to the cl-s chances are it'll be around a 13.6-13.8ish....i'm sorry but if you throw you supercharger on you're not gonna gain almost 2 seconds, not startin anything just making a point
