Better gas mileage when I don't use V-TEC...

I'm sure this is perfectly obvious anyway, but I just compared my last two gas receipts:

The last one with my regular driving was 24.49mpg. (267miles/10.9gallons.)
This latest one with NO use of V-TEC (much more civil driving) gave 28.37mpg. (244miles/8.6gallons.)

Btw, my driving is around 70% highway.

Yup... most of the time I try to keep it out of V-Tec range during my commute (about 70 miles round trip). I usually can't help myself though!!

How about keeping it below 3800 rpms so that the secondary runners don't open. Don't know if that's possible...

I only went above 3800 once or twice, and only for a second or two both times, so that's the same thing as "no VTEC" in this case.
